Actually the blind can get a hunting license in a lot of states,, they don't actually pull the trigger, but since hunting is both a sport AND a source of food for many they should not be denied the harvest or the experience, so they can go along with a sighted or non handicaped person ( actually they don't need to accompany them in some states if they don't want to)..

Sure, it's like a fishing license, you go into Wally World and buy one.

Call me old-fashioned, but I find this absurd.

Don't confuse a "hunting" license with a "firearms" license.

In Canada, if you are out in the field with a bunch of hunters (group hunting), you need a hunting license, regardless of whether or not you are armed.

Seems silly, but such are the hunting regs for most provinces.

I love skiing and get a thrill every time I haul ass down the mountain. I can only imagine what kind of thrill I might get doing it with my eyes closed. I wouln't be surprized if the blind guys had just as much fun.

Now: on to video of my skiing vacation in Jan:

Sweet Video Vern! Great camera work; who was the camera man?
Aspen looks very nice!

Tidybuoy 03-08-2009 10:16 PM

The camera man is my x-brother-in-law. He's skiing with no poles and when he's not filming, he is skiing pretty well - he's 67

"67"; now that's why I love skiing so much!
He did very well with the camera, that's not easy.
(almost like having your eyes closed ;) )

I use a helmet cam when I tape my friends and brother skiing.

i think it's great...
they could be sitting at home ..poor me...
granted we believe they miss something....
but..that takes courage..

I competed in the 25k, classical, Tour of Anchorage yesterday, which included blind skiers and guides. I'm guessing downhill skiing, blind, is considerably more challenging then cross country skiing. Couldn't imagine being blind folded and attempting a 25k.
