Hey, so for one of my classes, I'm working on the outline of a novel. I've reached something of an impasse and could use some advice! I either need a piece to add to my current plot, or an entirely new idea; both are equally useful.

So; either give me the intent of an 'evil' orginization [who they are, what they want, etc..] or give me anything else I can use for this, or another plot. [even fragments, such as 'make the main character become terminally ill' can be useful]

"evil organization" plots are very last century.

these days publishers are looking for "high-concept" plots.

bored housewife has a lesbian epiphany, kills husband and marries the mexican maid and lives happily ever after until maid's husband turns up for a visit.

that sort of thing always sells.

In a gritty and alternate 1985 the glory days of costumed vigilantes have been brought to a close by a government crackdown, but after one of the masked veterans is brutally murdered an investigation into the killer is initiated. The reunited heroes set out to prevent their own destruction, but in doing so discover a deeper and far more diabolical plot.

I know its kind of Sweeney Todd . . . but I thought that the Somalian pirate bit made it unique & very topical.
