? bitmap .bmp moving pics ? how to post

I receive these files in OE & O e-mails

If I hit "save as" it shows a .bmp file

it's a moving pic that I can't post here because I don't know how.

I've seen them posted here on pelican.

Does anyone know how to do it?

thx

animated bmp files are a bit rare. Animated Gifs are more common. There should be a way to save the file as an animated gif which will upload (think animated avatars)

the ones posted here are saved as ***.gif files from what I know.

It is difficult to change these types of files, if you can't save as GIF, then you're likely outa luck?

I doubt it. It's unlikely that if you save in .bmp format that you'll retain the animation. Animation is not something that a bmp normally does, so when you save a gif as a bmp it'll probably flatten the image. Once you convert it back, the stack of frames will probably be lost. The only animated bmp files that I've ever seen are the startup and shutdown screens for Windows 98 - 95 and maybe 2000.

If this is something you can do, you could try sending me one of the emails with the image and I'll see if I can extract the image.

pm me if you want.

With bitmap files, I've just right clicked on "rename" and change XXX.bmp to XXX.jpg. Works for me.

Worth a shot, but if you try that with an animated image, change it to .gif. jpgs don't do animation.
