Swimming Pool:

Thought someone might enjoy this, nothing like good post-modern design. Not kid-friendly, (it's on top of a big hill), but the guy is single so who cares:

Cool.
Is that what they call a "double negative" edge swimming pool? Ha, ha.

Is there a guest room?
Cheers

This whole deck, and the house, is really beautiful. He has almost zero flat land but he made the most of it w/ the deck. Around the corner there is a nice putting green w/ a net to hit balls into, didn't get a shot of that. Here are a couple more, the first one made me think of you, Rob. :)

Cheers!

Welcome to my humble home! :)

Cool pics! I've never fell "out" of a pool before :)

I am amazed at the engineering of that pool. It has to absolutely level all the way around to get that effect. Not so easy to do.

JeremyD 03-13-2009 06:20 AM

can't really play volleyball on that one can you?

onewhippedpuppy 03-13-2009 06:40 AM

Not a big modern architecture fan, but that's pretty sweet.

Yup. I wish I'd taken a picture of the side of it, it has a "moat" around the outside of it on the drop side and it's basically like an above ground pool w/ constant "spill-over". I think that's how the filter/pump part works, the water is constantly being cycled over the sides. The outside is finished beautifully in those small square tiles and has a perfect sheet of water flowing over it, (it's basically a fountain), no gaps or uneven splash. Incredible engineering considering the site.

In the second pic I posted, you can see the built-in bench that goes all the way around so people can just sit in the pool w/ a drink on the edge and watch the sunset over the hills and Mulholland in the summer. You can also see the spa on one end, that would be hot water/jacuzi.

Here's one more:

So, will there be a 2nd date, or was this a 1-night stand?

Porsche-O-Phile 03-13-2009 08:23 AM

AIG executive retreat?

Very cool. Definitely my favorite pool design. Lots of negative edge/infinity pools in AZ. Here are a few examples from homes we represent:
