The Zen Of Target Shooting
There is a certain meditative quality to target shooting. To do it well one has to be focused and exert disciple, patience and skill in unleashing such powerful forces in such a precise fashion. One can see why someone who appreciates the Eastern meditative philosophies would be enamoured of such a pass time. Besides that it is just plain old fun to blast those tins cans....
One really has to know what kind of bait to use to catch ones desired target audience...isn't that right Nostatus? Is this Gene or Ignatius at work here? |
"you should be surprised by the bang"
|
That is why one wears those ear muff thingys...to protect ones hearing...
Also if ya shoot 22LR then there is not much of a report. If ya like Lever guns then a nice late model Winchester 9422 XRT (22LR or 22WM) would be a nice addition. They go for about $600 used NIB. They are one of those discontinued models and are now beginning to be collectable. |
Ever shoot a Colt Python? Or a Colt Officers Model in 22LR..wheel guns...
Once you start you can never have enough...and you really are not thorwing money down a rat hole either cause they retain value if not appreciate. |
Just picked one of these babys up. Browning Mdl 12 20GA...had the 4 gun set once upon a time...20 GA high and std Grade along with 28 GA high and std grad all matching numbers...

QUOTE] I quite agree. I'm starting off (going to start off) by NOT drinking coffee before target shooting. And by the way guys. Thanks to you all. I'm having such a good time pistol shooting at a range. |

Nice pieces. I'd love to attend an auction like that. Way too many things on my shopping list, m1a, m1 carbine, garand, shotguns....
|
How did you like that SOCOM? I've heard mixed reviews and they ain't cheap. Charles Kieffner has one he's gonna let me shoot one day (right, Charles?).
|
The SOCOM was sweet. I took dead aim at a group of rocks about 150m away and it went where I pointed. It was a brand new build that was being broken in and zeroed (one shot, bore snake, one shot, bore snake, etc for the first couple dozen rounds). Beautiful weapon as far as "black guns" go. Most of the other guns were pretty beaten up and well used. But of course in perfect firing condition and heavily tweaked.

by all means..............just buy plenty of beer for targets. after plowing thru 200 rds of crap nato 147 grains i dropped my socom off at arringtonaccuracy.com. phil is a pilot and has landed here while looking over a plane he was buying. i fueled him up at our members discount and have since had my superduper supermatch from springfields custom shop, upgraded and polished to within a nano hair of its life, the socom done by him and my m-1 carbine both massaged like only a true craftsman can. phil is also an avid elk hunter like us. socoms with just iron sights due to barrel length are really just 500 yd guns. very effective and insane accurate 500yd guns, but alas only 500 yds. for 1000meter shoots you for sure want the standard length barrel. more stabilization of round due to length. |
keep the economy GOING! BUY GUNS AND AMMO!
|
The NRA wishes to thank Obama. We are becoming better armed, and the NRA membership is growing. My guns aren't old or fancy...but there were bought some time ago. Rifle calibers from .223 to .30, shotguns are 12 gauge, etc...nice to have around during times like these..
