Thank you to the Carolinas Region!

I had my first taste of what a Porsche can do on the track this past weekend at the Carolinas Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. It was great -and wet! A big thank you to all the folks that organized this event in trying conditions. We're talking rain, rain and MORE rain.

That said, the rain really helped me to begin to understand the various limits of my car. If you haven't tried a DE before, I highly recommend it; and if you're in the SE, Kershaw is a great track for a newbie.

edit: even with the weather, there were cool cars out there -incl. GT3, Carrera, 944S&T, C4S, SC as well as 4000CSI, Vette, Fit and more. And with the rain, plenty of track entertainment. A NASA BMW track car went by, and at the next corner spun out into the grass/mud. The most puckering corner on the track, at least for me, was called the kink. Taken flat out when dry (from what the instructor said), the turn in would take you over a concrete-patched corner -unsettling the car; and you'd then track out to the outside at close to 70+.

The Carolina's PCA group was very friendly and open. It was an excellent environment to work on your car control in a safe environment (as safe as it could be)...the ride home, including two hours in snow, was probably the most dangerous part of my weekend!

Thank you again to the Carolinas PCA Team!

Sounds like you had an awesome time. I'm going to a winter workshop this coming Saturday in preperation for my 1st DE this spring or summer. (I hope it doesn't rain!).

Buck...you'll have a good time (rain or shine)...remember to bring an umbrella, jacket with a hood, and a chair (among other things)...Sessions were 20 mins long, so there was some down time.

Bell...while you might think it was snow, it was really mash potatos...

Brave man, between the snow and rain but ... once you do a DE in the dry you'll never go back to doing one in the wet

Glad to hear you had a good time. Did you run the full track or were they just using either the east or west loop ?

Since you are in Atlanta I'm assuming you are a Peachstate Region member so you'll want to get in on a DE at Road Atlanta. Peachstate puts on a great event you'll have a blast at RA.

Consider yourself hooked now on the slippery slope of tracktime

Thank you Capt. C! It was nice to meet you too...

Doug, it was the full course. Quite a blast. I can't make it to RA in the Spring, but I hope to make it some time later this year...
