Guess Porsche Was Too Busy Building Four Doors..

to upgrade their LMP2 car to be a LMP1 car like Acura. Great Sebring race between Audi, Peugeot and Acura. Porsche whines about the LMP2 rules and then goes to Grand Am and gets a break in the rules (with a France driving a Porsche powered one, go figure). Sorry Grand Am has close racing, but the cars look like kit cars from the 70's. Wasn't excellence expected at one point?

Doesn't Porsche own a chunk of Audi via their stake in VW?

Beyond that, Porsche won the manufacturers championship last year, won first in class many times, won outright a few times even. What's left for them to do?

From my understanding, that is why they aren't in LMP1... Internal politics.

Not sure where you have been but Porsche/Brumos have been in Grand Am since the beginning with a prototype car. They are now finally getting competitive. I agree the cars are ugly to look at. Rumors are starting to emerge that Porsche will have a LMP1 car for 2010. To be honest as the majority owner of VW which owns Audi I'm not sure we will see a Porsche LMP1 going against a Audi LMP1. But who knows. The worlds economy is going to drive many motorsports changes I'm afraid. While I enjoy the LMP1 + LMP2 cars I enjoy the GT2 racing the best. Porsche had a tough time at Sebring in GT2 but it was more driver error than mechanical failures and they had great pace. Hopefully the fight with Ferrari and Panoz will continue all year. And the Rahal / Letterman BMW needs more speed but they'll get there.
