Posting New topics

Hey I posted a some threads trying to sell some parts. Is it common practice for the pelican community to attack other members when you ask someone for clarification on a question they asked. This certain member seems to be the embodiment of all the negative comments made about Porsche lovers. I'm very aggravated at CAR 311 for beating up my thread and making my potential to help with advice and sell parts on here a humiliating experience. Is there a way to air this grievance to higher ups? Thanks for reading this.

You are correct, he had no right to ask any specifics of the part you had for sale.

I would demand your money back for the post.

Here is the post in question: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/463675-fs-competition-oil-cooler.html

I agree, pretty inapropriate comments by car 311. His description of himself seems spot on.... "a simple (minded?) man with complex issues"

Super_Dave_D 03-19-2009 04:36 PM

I think you are being a little sensitive, all he wanted were dimensions and pics. Thats how you sell things.

tangerine911S 03-19-2009 04:40 PM

True, but not a tacful way to go about it. His last comment in particular

Super_Dave_D 03-19-2009 04:42 PM

It didnt go south until the seller commented on "Make it work". His initial reply was spot on. All seems silly.

I often post on Vortex in the VW MK3 and 2.8 VR6 forums and this is what I would expect from those guys. There mostly teenagers with way too much energy.

I'm kinda surprised that this would happen in this forum. Most of us are at least of a mature age and can't wait to help each other... I know I put a lot of thought into my posts and so do a lot of other people here. And we even have some professionals who regularly visit and help out amateurs like me.

Do you guys really know how lucky we are to have such a forum?

I love Porsche's and everything they represent. A superbly engineered sports car that has never and will never be beaten. Sure there are faster cars but we drive the best sports car ever made.... Period.

his secondary response could have used more tact, listing things for sale here can be daunting and is a learning experience.
but, do a little research and find out what kind of info people will need and include said info in your thread.

for example, if you read this, what would you think? would you post an 'I'll take it! '

***for sale - one competition wheel, aftermarket but can be made to work on a porsche 911. $250. ****

( see what I mean? )
don't let it sour you, learn and move on. lots of good people here.

Car 311's posts are gone, did he delete them? Or did someone else?

signature65 03-20-2009 07:26 AM

Cars posts are gone. All I can add is in our world of email, txting, and PM's it is hard to convey contex. I am very sarcastic and think im hilarious in some posts.....when reread days later I have felt differently.

So I do not know what was said but this is an open forum......dont let the negative comments of one guy ruin your Pelican experience. There are thousands of us on here and all 9 times outta ten more than willing to help.
