Home Projects Thread

Spring weather... time to get outdoors and make it happen. Oddly enough, I enjoy outside projects almost as much as working on my car.

In progress: ready for the cap and rock facing. I've never done masonry work before (I'm sure that's a laugh for some based on my mortar work) - a learning experience.

Looks good so far! What are use using for the facing? Cultured stone?

Here's our weekend project: After moving all of the furniture Friday evening, carpet & pad ripped up Sat. AM, thinset & space in the PM, then grout, scrub, seal and quarter round today. I had a 3 hour big band gig as well last night, and I'm in some kinda' pain right now!

Next week it's kitchen/hall/utility room....fun!;)

Never worked with that stuff either - should be interesting.

RouxRoux - I feel your pain! I never knew I didn't like tile grouting until it tried it - I finally found something I liked less than mudding drywall.

Here's one from a few years ago - my wife after we finished our tileing and grouting our kitchen and laundry room:

I made a new bench for the mud room.

Oh yes! ! ! THAT'S the feeling! And the cool tile CAN feel pretty good! I like the "brick stagger" you did there. That's what we're going to do next weekend in the other rooms.

I actually think the WORST part is knowing you have to move the furniture back in!

This job really was not an option as we have 5 dogs that live in the house, and after 10 years, the carpet was getting pretty worn (not to mention all of the dirt that makes its way through the carpet AND the padding). Even with regular great deep steam cleaning, it's amazing what gets through. The only carpet that will be left in 3 weeks will be the front 2 bedrooms and front hall (only used for guest rooms).SmileWavy

That's a great bench MT930. Nice job with the reclaimed wood.
