i used to make a black russian pie that had a half cup of kahlua and 2/3 cup of vodka suspended in gelatin and whipped cream.
not baked, so all the proof was still there. kind of like a chiffon pie drink.
i might have to do that again soon.

i just noticed that this is only a one star thread........how the hell can a thread with cake and pie only rate one star, there is something wrong here.

Grew up on the stuff; cake, pie and ice cream; when it came to Grandma, anything went.
I voted pie.

Por_sha911 03-23-2009 08:13 PM

Yes please. May I have a cup of coffee with that?

My grandma makes the best Lemon pie ever. My next favorite is my Uncles Pecan Pie(WW2 navy chef showed him how). Then its my great aunts cherry pie made with home grown cherries.

ahh good hand made pie. sprinkle alittle sugar on top before baking, then it's good to go. :)

I think they were trying to say that this thread is like the Sun, warm and wonderful on your face as winter turns to spring, like the oven as you check the pies to see if they are done. Such sweet anticipation!

yeah, this thread deserves one star...the Sun!:D:D:D

It's hard to improve on "cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee".

What was the chef's name? My grandfather was a WWII Navy Chef- just curious...

Love Boston Cream Pie.
But, it's really cake.

Love pumpkin pie.
But it's really just an excuse to eat Coolwhip.

Love chocolate cake with vanilla icing.

Pass the lipitor.

I don't know what the hell you meant by that Moses,,, but I voted cake ( I like both actually, does that make me a lesbion or something ?)..

Boysenberry Sour Cream Pie.......................:p

Haven't had it in years but it is my all time favorite!!

Tobra 03-24-2009 07:37 PM

The key to the crust is to keep your Crisco in the fridge, use cold water and handle the dough as little as possible

Best pie I ever had was a cherry one Mom made with cherries from the trees they brought back as sticks in golf bag. Cuttings they got from Uncle John.

I only ever heard him called Spiz. He lived in Enid, OK and floated around in the pacific watching his buds get eaten by sharks when the tojos sunk it. I would have to ask my uncle which ship it was but he was one of the few survivors.

t951 03-24-2009 07:45 PM

I still want pie. Dammit.

Oh, its 1144pm and I am on the way to the supermarket to get pie.....

DonDavis 03-24-2009 09:59 PM
