Have you ever heard of bump firing?
Just heard about this two days ago and am off to the range in another hour to try it out with my M4.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIC8SMttjjo I'm afraid I can't spare the amount of ammo it would probably take to get as good as this guy is. But it looks very cool. I wonder if doing this will get earn me a visit from the BATF undercover thugs at the range. It's 100% legal, but I'm sure someone will want to check out the rifle.

I saw a guy doing it at one of the ranges here with an M1 carbine.. Looked impressive. I havent tried it yet. Like you said .223 is too expensive to go through like that.

Legal, but he did make some mods:
rickhawk00l: On an AR15, and only on an AR the buffer tube is part of the operating system. But you must make it so that a stock cannot be attached. I have cut the lug off the back and plunged the screw hole. You can also attach a cap to the end. aface4radiofreemusic: Rick, I have a Colt 6450 Ar-15 9mm, with the standard collapsable stock. As it is, will it bump-fire from the shoulder with this configuration? Thanks! And, love your video. rickhawk001: Yes it will but I found that with the short gas tube I had a lot of rounds fire prematurely and would balloon out at the bottom. This causes a malfunction and is a potentially dangerous situation. The longer tube seems to allow the bolt to travel longer before the weapon springs forward and back into your finger. I have standard tubes on mine and they work fine. If you have trouble let me know I can make a couple suggestions. |

I wonder if my 10/22 has enough recoil to make this work.

Doubt the 10/22 kicks enough to work.
Lemme go down on the basement and try. J/K! ![]()

Here's a "how-to" video. I understand the California legislature is working on an "anti-bumpfire" bill...

With a good trigger job it will.
Not the creepy stock trigger.

Ha ha! I'm sure anyone who would shoot at people would be deterred by an anti-bump-firing law. I mean weapons charges really out the fear of God into criminals.

Here's a "shoestring" mod that replaces your thumb:
![]() And here's how to do the same using a rubber-band (however rubber-band must have been manufactured prior to 1986): Last edited by DasBoot; 03-25-2009 at 01:46 PM.. |

Hey, that's how my nail gun works. It'll do a nice little dance on the wood if I hold it lightly.

Well, I couldn't make it work. Not once. I don't know if I need a trigger upgrade or what, but I tried everything. Just didn't work. On top of that, the $10 battery in my Millet Zoom Dot scope was dead on arrival, so I couldn't even do some target practice with it. So I stuck to my Remington 700/.30-06. What's the trick with these s/a triggers?
