How to clean a leather sofa?
 

I have a leather sofa in a light color that's starting to get a little dirty around the front of the cushions. To clean the seats in the car I use Meguier's One-Step Leather Care. Is it a good idea to clean the sofa with that too, or is there something else I should use?

Stop doin the dirty on the couch would be my only suggestion.

I would switch to a 2-step leather care like Lexol or Connolly.

For the car or both? I have a lot of leatherique left over from restoring the seats in the Volvo, but didn't know if that'd be a bit much. Also have some Lexol but it's the cleaner only (don't recall seeing anything but that at the store, but there's a second bottle from them I should find?). I don't really know anything about conditioning leather sofas, but I should probably get on that so it lasts longer.

Maybe Lexol to clean, Leatherique rejuvinator to condition?

Been buying leather sofas since 18 y.o. Though no expert, as recommended years ago, I have been buying Lexol (cleaner), followed by the conditioner.

A lot of work, but worth it.

On the other hand, this is 2nd reason to own leather (easy cleanup)! Oh, and don't forget, the problem with cleaning leather sofas is that it takes the memories away.... so reminish for a long time before cleaning. :D:D:D

leatherique worked well on our leather sofa...never tried lexol though.

I have used Lexol cleaner, followed by the conditioner for years on our leather couches. Works great for us. Depending on the finish on the leather, might try a sample spot first. If the stains don't come out with the cleaner, might try saddle soap.

Lexol worked great to clean up the dirt. I'm going to try a light conditioning with Leatherique later. Since it's a light color and the first leather sofa I've had I'm completely paranoid about doing something that screws it up, but it seems to be going ok so far.
