Parent's wedding day with the '53 356

Here's a pic of my parent's heading off on their honeymoon in 1954. They got married in San Francisco and drove their blue 1953 356 to Yellowstone. My Dad bought it while stationed in Heidelberg. This is the car that launched my father into the VW/Porsche business in 1955. He still goes down to the dealership almost every day. He'll be 81 in May, and he and my Mom are still going strong.

BTW, those bumpers were meant as protection from all the big Fords, etc. trying to park near the little Porsche. It was getting too many dents.

He sold it a year later when my oldest sister came along. Besides, as a VW/Porsche salesman, he was given a "demo" car to drive, and didn't need to own his own car. He sold it to an SF undertaker. I wish I knew what became of it.

I think it says "AMATUER NIGHT"

It says, "Amature Night". He still kids his buddies for being bad spellers.
