electronic adapter question
Ok, got myself a airmac base station (router + wireless).
On the base it says it needs 12v 0.7a input. I lost my power adapter and have looked all over town for a used part. nada  What would happen if I used a 12v 2a power adapter? 0.7a vs 2a I'm not really interested in burning the dang thing up or frying the internals ... lolo. Anybody know ? |
That will be fine. Just be sure the polarity (+/-) is correct and the voltage type (AC vs. DC) is the same.

+1 should work.

It'll work. Like DasBoot says, check the polarity. The 2a adaptor is capable of delivering 2 amps of current should you need it, whereas the 0.7a adaptor is capable of delivering 0.7 amps of current. Your router will never need more than 0.7 amps of current since that is what was supplied with it, but it won't hurt anything.
Consider the battery in your car, it can deliver 500 Amps let's say, but it doesn't hurt the little light bulb which only needs 0.5 amps. |
Thanks all!
I appreciate it! |
+1 make sure to check ac vs. DC.
