2 days until Melbourne F1 starts, any takers on this weekend?

Allot of driver number changes this year, not many other changes except for the old/new “Brawn Mercedes” team
Cannot believe they kept Barrichello?

I think this is the year (again!) for Alonso and Renault considering there strong finish last year!

This year is looking to be great! I love it that some of teams last year that were mid/rear pack are podium contenders now (at least in testing). Anyone think McLaren has been sandbagging? They've been slow and even Whitmarsh doesn't know why.

You nailed it; I think there are 4 teams equally able to win the DC/MC this year!
It’s great IF the championship can come down to the last 4 turns of the last race without the FIA’s previous intervention.

I hope they (FIA) heard the fans loud and clear this off season.

FIA is doing a lot more for the fans this year with radio broadcasts, telemetry, fuel loads and other information being made public. I just wish they would get some HD cameras on the track.

I can't wait and I have Direct TV this year instead of Comcast so I finally have F1 in HD!!!

Now if they'd just bring an F1 race back to North America since I stupidly passed on notfarnow's invitation to last year's race. I've never been to Europe. Maybe this is the year for a family vacation to an F1 race.

Looking forward to the race. The only thing that might mar the beginning of the season is the diffuser situation. See article.

Brawn F1!!

No really, I think Ferrari will pull out all the stops this year and dominate. Hamilton is too busy with the Pussy Cat Dolls, the others seem just too quiet, and Massa's taste or Championship victory, though only lasting 15 seconds, was too much to not have more of it.

Raikkonen does dominate Melbourne on a regualr basis. He has something to prove. McLaren may be sandbagging, although they claim they are not. Not sure what to think of Brawn, they certainly are fishing for sponsorship, hence the preseason speed.

all speculative of course.... Regardless,
It should be a good one this season.

Really looking forward to this season. Funny, the older I get (closer to old fart), the more I seem to enjoy parking my butt in the favorite chair watching F1.

And so the fun begins . . .

They settled the scoring debacle by not settling anything. Renault & McLaren threatened a boycott over money. The diffusers might lead to problems.

I think the F1 season is about to begin.

Well, now that Schumacher is coming back for Team Brawn it might change things a bit. Having a 7x World Champ racing again will definitely change the mix.

If you look at the 2008 in car footage you can barley see the front wing. The drivers view is another foot or so lower so there's no way they could see the front wing on the 2008 or 2009 car.

There is no F1 broadcast in HD. What you see on a "HD channel" is just an upconversion of the SD 480. You can blame Bernie for this. They film all the footage on HD cameras, but the world feed is SD.

Wow that was really a gag reflex! Almost started searching till I read your next post
Jim’s post/vid is interesting, how low can the front wing go?

Lets bring it on!
Always loved Brawn (like Newey) and hope he does well.

I like team Bosses as much as drivers.
Ron Dennis stepped down.
Jean Todt stepped down.
Go Brawn!! Show them they were *&^*&'d not to give you the job at F!

I will be there as a Melbournite.

It will be a twilight race this Sunday to suit worldwide television audiences.

It also means that I will be in a bad way after waiting 'til the 5.00pm start which inevitably requires quality time in a large barn style beer tent.

There is no Carrera Cup race this year which was traditionally one of the lead up races each day of the 4 day event. Maybe the GFC has taken its toll on that too.

I don't know about diffusers but I think by race start I will be infused with Fosters which is an evil Aussie brew that I only seem to drink at the F1. On past experience, by then it will be too noisy and fast to watch from the side of the track and more time in the beer tent will seem the obvious and sensible option.

Regards,

Steve

i'm really bummed out there's no race in Montreal this year. I've been to 4 over the last 6years with buddies and have had a blast.

This year I guess there's always the couch instead of St Catherine's Street!.......

I took this video from a few years ago when sitting accross from the pits:
(sorry for the lack of quality its from a small crappy camera)
