The Masters Golf
I don't play golf but I enjoy watching it from a beautiful golf coarse like Agusta, especially on HD. My question is, "why do the caddies wear a jumpsuit that resembles something akin to insane asylum attire ?

I don't know why, but the jumpsuit is a tradition at The Masters. Caddies don't wear it at other tournaments.
Brutal way to lose for Kenny Perry - two up with two to go. Two straight bogies, and gives it up in the 2nd playoff hole. At 48, he likely won't get as good a look at another major championship. Tiger & Phil made it fun, but seven back to start the final round is a little too much. In the end, props to Cabrera.

It would have been nice to have seen Kenny Perry win a major, but after the 16th hole, he could not hit a green. Cabrerra made a great recovery out of the woods on the 18th to make the playoff. It always comes down to who can handle their nerves.

I watched the last few holes with my Dad today. Around hole 16 a graphic came on screen saying Perry hadnt had a bogey in so many holes, maybe since friday. I told me dad he was done, they cursed him. Sure, it's BS, but they cursed him.
It was an exciting finish. The shot from behind the tree was impressive, mainly because I have the same shot all the time. Different result though. |

I loved seeing Tiger choke on 17 and 18. Kenny should have won, but choked as well. Campbell was my horse, but it wasn't to be.
On another note Augusta related, I heard a story that my uncle told my dad about an Augusta member. My uncle's neighbor had a friend who was admitted as a member to Augusta National a few years ago. One year he had invited 2 groups of guests to play with him, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. At Augusta, the member is required to meet his arriving guest in the parking lot, well, he was in the clubhouse when the second group showed. His afternoon group was greeted by the then president of A.N., Hootie Johnson in the parking lot. The member was reminded of the rules at Augusta and he promised it would not happen again. A year later, the same thing happens. As he was enjoying refreshments in the clubhouse with his friends following the afternoon round, a note is placed in front of him. The note read that his membership privileges at Augusta National had been terminated. ![]() I'd make damn sure I was following all the rules if I had the chance to be a member at Augusta National.

I don't like golf either, but watching it in high def was actually pretty exciting. I also hate Tiger, I understand that he's good, but he's a such a poor loser. He always has an excuse/blame on someone else if plays bad.
I though the caddies looked more like a haz mat squad.

I think he's gotten better now, But I'm pretty sure he used to blame fans talking, cell phones going off, cameras clicking and other things. He just never gives me the impression that he's a gracious loser in his interviews.

Augusta is a unique place, they make their own rules and they don't really give a shlt what anyone thinks.
White coveralls for the caddies because, well just because! I thought it was silly that most of the camera coverage yesterday was of Tiger and Mickleson, you didn't see that much of Cabrera, Campbell or even Perry until after the two chosen ones finished. No doubt, Tiger is a great golfer (possibly the greatest) but lets see the rest of the field. I've always been a big Arnold Palmer fan, he has always been very close to the gallery and really appreciates what the fans mean to the game. Tiger is only there to win and break records, Arnie wanted to give back to the game. They hate it at Augusta when the winner has to have an interpreter. ![]() |

My caddiemaster loves the tradition of the Masters so much that he made us switch from wearing typical bibs and shorts to wearing the white jumpsuits everyday.

I don't think Tiger does this more than any other golfer. The fact that there is a camera pointing at him on EVERY shot makes it seem that way. Now, if you want *****ing and moaning, I have one word for you. SERGIO.

Perry looked so solid up until the seventeenth hole, I really thought he could hang on FTW. I was pulling for him mainly because of his age. The first play off hole was awful, but fun to watch. A clear demonstration of what that tournament means & the pressure trying to win it generates. The faces of Cambell & Perry after the tournament told the story, clearly they were both devastated.

I went to the Masters last Tuesday for the practice round. One thing for sure, no cameras or cell phones are getting in that place. You go thru metal detectors to get in. If you don't want to go thru the detector then leave. They do it their way at Augusta National. The place is run very well from the tourney to crowd control. Everyone is very polite but you get the idea. The food is great and is priced right. Nice BBQ sandwich cost 1.50 and a drink 1.00. They don't try and make their money off of the patrons. Shirts and hats, etc, was reasonably priced as well. If you love golf its a place you just have to go to at least once. Perry choked on the way in, and still had a chance in the playoff. To bad, likely won't get in the hunt again. Its easy to think those guys have it made. They play golf 4 days each weekend. From what I saw they were playing the masters course Monday to Sunday if they made the cut. On Tuesday, the wind was blowing and the temp never got above 46. The players who were out on Tuesday were in full rain/wind gear. Cabrera was one of them. The masters course, is one I have always wanted to at least see, is very long, very hilly, very tight, and the greens are very fast. The course could not have been in better condition anywhere. It is the best maintained, best prepared, and best run in the business and it is named properly.

Phil choked too, but he does it so often it's routine. I, along with quite possibly everyone, expected him to choke. I'm not so sure he didn't expect to choke himself.

Yeah, Phil, boy he CHOKED on a couple short puts, lota pressure,
I don't think Tiger was ever really in it, he missed so many very close shots it had to be getting to him. |
