I guess I don't get it.

I feel bad for Marcus and those fine young lads deserve a session out behind the woodshed, but I don't get why the fine young lads deserve to be killed for it? Pretty crappy thing to do for sure, but it is a dog....its not like they killed his daughter or something....

I guess it must be an American thing, can't make sense of all the anger from either a European or Canadian perspective....

these guys are puppy killers. even the child molesters are going to stomp on their asses.

watched some animal planet documentary on prison lifers training dogs as part of a therapy program. violent psychotic murderers still love dogs. animal cruelty doesn't bring much of a sentence. but it's not going to be easy time.

It's who they did it two that multiplies the anger by many orders of magnitude. The killing of a defenseless, domesticated pet is an awful thing. Doing it to the therapy dog of a war veteran and torture survivor makes it unimaginable.

I assume the fine young lads knew who they were doing it to....it was not just a random....lets go kill a dog for sport .... kind of thing.

Probably the best punishment for the fine young lads is to just drop them off in the middle of any military establishment ** with notice**

Nowhere in any of the reports I've read or seen was there anything saying these punks knew whose dog they were killing.

I guess there are people who have no idea what a Navy SEAL is, but haven't most guys these guys' ages at least spent enough time playing video games to have some idea?

I know that it's somewhat demeaning to mention video games in the same breath as any kind of special ops military, but IMO, it would seem be difficult to find guys/punks in their 20's who had no idea of what SEALs are, what they have to go through to make the program, the washout rate, etc.

Another board I frequent has quite a few military members, and this is pretty big news.

From here: http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/23658/

Quote:
The Texas Rangers arrive and these guys, when the Texas Rangers are taking these guys away, Marcus has held them there by a gun.

As the Rangers are taking these guys away, they're threatening Marcus' life and saying, "When we get out, we're coming for you next. First it was your dog. It's going to be you next. You don't know who you're messin' with."

That's when Marcus kind of snapped just a little bit and said to the Ranger, "Excuse me, ranger, do you know who I am?" He said, "Yes, sir, Mr. Luttrell, I do."

He said, "You might want to explain to these punks because I could have killed them 600 different ways and if I wanted to kill you guys after what you would have done what you just did to my dog, I would have pulled you down into my basement and I would have tortured you for days and you wouldn't have died until you begged me for death. So before you start saying you're going to come after me, you better learn who you've just whose dog you just killed."

They've also set up a fund to help Petty Officer Luttrell, with funds to be used however he wishes.

I'd also highly recommend that you read The Lone Survivor, his book about his exploits. Very sobering, and informative.

Here's a 20 minute talk he gave at the Goldwater Institute's 20th Anniversary Dinner.

I have a retired Navy SEAL neighbor (one of the first - Vietnam era, actually) and told him this story. He just said those kids are in for psychological terror for the rest of their lives. SEALs are trained in ways to get inside people's heads, among other things and they're a very tight-knit community and will go out of their way to stick up for one another. No doubt whatsoever that these punks who think they're all tough now are in for a world of hurt for the next few years. Eventually they'll be crying for their mommies. SEALs definitely do NOT screw around and are not the kind of people to piss off.

Rest assured, they'll come up with some very creative ways to make these guys' lives a living hell for many, many years to come. So much so they'll probably welcome the death that's eventually delivered to them.

Pretty much there's not a worse person on Earth that they could have f-ed with. Here's hoping that they quickly learn the error of their ways.

As horrible as it is that they killed his dog, there is something perfectly Darwinian about their mistake/misstep).

They should give them autographed copies for them to read while they're sitting in jail.

Even better, inscribed with, "I'll be waiting for you to come get me when you get out, just like you said you would ... but don't make me wait too long."
