The iPhone let you take a picture of a gun?

I thought there was an App to prevent that!

My FFL does this. He has to pay the state sales tax on every deal he does.

I should mention that the Colts I was quoting were LE models, or a higher model line than a 'stock' AR.

Todd,

If the tax isn't collected for an instate sale by the selling dealer from an instate buyer then I can see the FFL transfer receiver/dealer collecting tax from the buyer in another town. There aren't many dealers that would not collect tax on what they sell and rely on another dealer to collect it. Illinois allows private transfers with a 24 hour wait period. So no taxes if you meet face to face with a private seller.

Other FFL holders here don't collect tax on items from out of state and they charge $25-$55 to do the transfer, not a "bend over" $250!

Rattlsnak: I believe the LE model or lower receivers marked for Military and LE were simply rifles manufactured during the ban with features not allowed for civilian rifles.Since the ban was lifted all the features that were banned are now available on rifles.

Colt may have continued to manufacture LE enscribed lower receivers, but there is nothing special about them, unless it is full auto or selectable with burst fire. In that case you'd need a special permit to own it.

No offense to Colt owners, but the Colts have a name only premium on them. Not worth the extra 300 to 500 hundo for a rifle that has limits on interchangeabilty and doesn't perform any better than other AR's.

The LE comes with the collapsible stock and the M4 barrel with the 1-7 twist, so yes there is a difference compared to the lower priced Bushmasters, of course you can get those things in a bushie also, but they cost more than the bottom model. So model vs model, yes Colt is higher priced for basically the same thing.

But back to the original statement, yes, you pay for the name. Since you didnt like the car brand, its the same with shoes. Nike vs Rack Room shoes, or whatever. Same design, but you pay more for the Nike. It is branding.. Or how about soda? Coke vs RC? same thing. Some people will nt pay more for the 'brand', others will.
