Do you like fishsticks?

I have to admit, this is not at all how I expected this to play out.

NEW YORK — "South Park" may have accomplished the impossible — getting Kanye West to check his ego.

The Comedy Central show skewered the famously self-important rapper on its show Wednesday night, painting him as a narcissistic figure so out of touch with reality he couldn't even take a (very politically incorrect) joke.

West's love of himself and his work has been almost as integral to his image as his music: Just last year, he told The Associated Press that he was the "voice of this generation." Also recently, he was quoted as saying his greatest regret was not being able to see himself perform live.

Yet, on his blog Thursday, West appeared chastened, and ready to turn over a new leaf.

In typical all-caps mode, he wrote: "SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT'S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER."

West said that he started stroking his ego long ago to build up his self esteem — but he now realizes he needs to "GET PAST MYSELF."

In the self-reflective post, he said that people won't take him seriously if he keeps it up (perhaps referring to his well-documented meltdowns at awards shows when he didn't win what he expected).

"I JUST WANT TO BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM," he said.

And perhaps to show that he's really serious about making that change, he provided a link to one of the most biting moments from the "South Park" show, and thanked the writers as well.

That was one of the funniest eps of South Park I have seen in a long time.

Kanye West is the guy who famously announced during a fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina victims that "George Bush hates black people."

Jim Richards 04-10-2009 07:34 AM

doesn't sound like a very bright guy.

Jim Richards 04-10-2009 07:35 AM

oh yeah...fishsticks?

legion 04-10-2009 07:42 AM

That's the opening line to the joke in the South Park episode.

"Do you like fishsticks?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Then you're a gay fish!"

Yes, a dumb joke, but in the episode, Kanye West does not get the joke, and takes personal offense to anyone that calls him a "gay fish", even killing Carlos Mencia.

Jim Richards 04-10-2009 07:43 AM

He took out Mencia? That ba$tard!

onewhippedpuppy 04-10-2009 08:01 AM

The better question: why is a Kanye West blog post showing up on Fox News? Glad to know that everything in the world is soooooo good that they're busy reading entertainer's blogs.

Yes, but not cooked in the oven. they taste a whole lot better when deep fried and get a nicer crisp to them. A little Ketchup with horseradish and worchestershire sauce mixed in, that's the ticket.
They stink up the oil and house, but that's what fried fish does.

As far as that other guy? I prefer not to acknowledge his existence.

Ketchup and horseradish is cocktail sauce for shrimp and shellfish. Tartar sauce is mayo, horseradish, and pickle relish. I always make my own sauces as it seemed we're tossing half bottles of store bought stuff and homemade tastes 10x better.

bell 04-10-2009 10:13 AM

So you both like putting fishsticks in your mouth?

TerryH 04-10-2009 10:26 AM

If that's make me a gay fish, so be it..... glub glub.

bell 04-10-2009 12:44 PM

LOL give me credit, it was a good setup :D

Yep, but my version is a little different than traditional cocktail sauce. I like it more than tartar sauce even if it isn't appropriate for the food I'm eating ;)
