Went to Wales and London. Scirocco and Jensen in photo's

When I was in Wales, I was able to see a Jensen (never before for me) and while I was in London I ran across a 2009 Scirocco. I wish these came to the states I think I would have to buy one.

Hope you enjoy,
Bryan

Scirocco names brings back fond memories of my first new car - bought it fresh out of college back in 1979:

New one looks interesting.

Had a Scirocco back in '78. Kept it for 13 years. What a fun car, and a great concept: sporty, good looking, great handling, great mileage, and the utility of a hatchback! Metallic navy blue w/ a tan corduroy interior. I even had a dash plaque made up of Georgetto Giugiaro's autograph which he signed for me when we met in about 1980.

It would be nice to see the new one turn out as well.

I had to comment

My first car was also a 1978 and I paid $1,800 for it. Silver with a rabbit GTI motor in it. I was 16 yrs old and had for about 2 years. This was the first of my 7 volkswagons. I bought the scirocco back in 91 or around there.

The new one isn't available in the US?? Bizarre, can't see that being the case for too long, its had rave reviews in most UK mags...

I'm a huge watercooled VW fan as you can see in my sig. I was pretty upset that VW wasn't bringing them to the states. We never get the really cool VWs. (1988/89 Rallye Golf!) I mean it took us almost 7 years to get the MK1 Rabbit GTi in '83. RoW had it in '76!
That one looks fairly tame. I've seen some really aggressive looking Sciroccos in Performance VW mag and others that look scary/mean as hell in a good way. Looks to me like someone seriously chopped a MKV GTi...but it looks good. Here's mine to compare:

Unfortunately, the new Scirocco is NOT coming to the US.

The info I've read indicates the price would be too high, and it would overlap with the GTI & R32 too much.

Disappointing. Looks like a great car.

Interesting, the side windows do remind me of the Saab 9X concept car of a few years back.

They can keep the Scirocco; I don't see the point as it's mostly a GTI anyway, correct? But thanks for the Jensen pics, very cool. I love that old British iron (to look at, not to maintain).

Nice post Bryon and great to see pics of cars I have heard of but never
really seen in the wild, glad you had a great time there!

Gotta say, if I was there and placed in a car with the steering wheel on
the wrong side, I would make local news here in CA within 2 hrs

Good to see you back! (Fat Tires for everyone )
