What's the P-Car scene like around Cincinnati ?
Looks like I'll be relocating to Mason OH in a month or so and am just wondering what the P-car scene is like in and around the Cincinnati area.
Any Pelicans in that region that can fill me in on activities, clubs, shops, etc ... ? I've already mapquested the directions from that area to the local tracks so I am looking forward to participating in some DE's on those :) |
Cincinnati? You sure get around, Doug. Good like over there and keep in touch. :)

Good luck Doug

Oh oh, sounds like I might be in trouble if the only people responding to this thread are some of my original P-car friends from NoVa :(
Thanks for the well wishes Jim and Chris ... seems like just yesterday we were dropping motors and rebuilding them. |
You could always move back, Doug. Richard is in AZ so the highways here are safe(r). :D

:) Good luck in Ohio. I was always hoping to say hello on a trip to Road Atlanta. Guess I'll see you at MO one day. |
Hmmm, as enticing as you make it sound Jim it just isn't in the cards right now ;)
Please don't remind me about leaving RA Steve ... if you do make it to that track then driving SP again just won't be the same. Hopefully we can connect at MO one day because that track is definately on my "must do" list :) Maybe I'll have to go back and search the archives again. I just find it hard to believe that there aren't any P-car activities in the Northern KY or Cincinnati areas ... |
Altough Cincinnatti is about 5 hours away from me and i am not positive, I think Ohio has in general, a pretty active Porsche scene. You have the mid ohio race course, maybe a hour or so from you, and I am always seeing decent cars and track cars for sale in that area. I used to frequent Cincinatti a while back and It seemed as if it was a fairly affluent midwestern city, nice suburbs etc...
Best of luck |
Plenty to do in Cinti and the S Dayton areas. In Mason you are only about 45 min from the Taj Ma Garaj collection who put on some good events. You are also less than an hour from the P2O show in July.
Three hours from Mid Ohio, Three hours from Putnum Park, etc etc. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. |
Porsches to Oxford is the last weekend in July and is a great event not to be missed. Just a short drive from Cinci!
|
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that Peter Frampton lives in a suburb of Cinci...
|
I bought my 951 in Cincy. The PCA there was pretty cool- much more into racing than wine and cheese. Check them out- if the same guys are still there, its a fun crew that works on their own cars.

Thanks for the leads ... this gives me hope. Sounds like there are at least a couple of things to put on the "to do" list :)

I just google mapped Mason Ohio to Kentucky Speedway. Its 33 miles.
If they have an Infield road racing course, I would bet that the local clubs are making use of it... |
Welcome Doug,
Lots of things to do around Cincinnati. http://porsches2oxford.com/ http://www.kreuzers.com/carshow.php http://www.drivebluegrass.com/ Also Kentucky Speedway and Mid Ohio Sports Car Course as mentioned above. |
Thank Chris, I appreciate the links !
Prior to even posting this thread I had mapquested the distances to Indy, MO, Road America, Watkins Glen, Summit Point, Blackhawk, Putnam and Kentucky :D |
