Looking for an inexpensive used AWD Wagon
My Mom's car is slowly dying so I need to get her a new car.
I'm looking for a midsized, safe, reliable AWD wagon for around $5k. Cars I'm looking at include 2000+ Subaru Outback, 1998-2000 Volvo V70 XC, 1999+ Audi A6 Avant. I'm leaning towards the Subaru. This particular car looks like a good deal: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/1208641110.html Any comments?

No way I'd get the A6 unless someone is giving you a long term warranty and a bag of money.
Subie would be my choice. Also consider a Legacy wagon - essentially the same thing but not quite as "offroad." Last edited by nostatic; 06-07-2009 at 09:05 AM.. |

my current dd is a 1997 Subaru legacy L wagon 5speed and the thing is amazing it gets good gas mileage and still is a fun car to drive. the engine runs like a top and it's a flat four so thats also a plus. but for an awd wagon id say the Subaru is the best choice.

Both the Audi and the Subie can have pretty big issues that can cost big money (Audi much moreso) or leave her stranded. How about a first-gen RAV4 or CRV? All Wheel Drive Vibe/ Matrix?
