Clapton and winwood-phx

well the MOST EXPENSIVE TICKETS i have EVER PURCHASED for a concert were worth it. clapton/winwood and company played your standard 2.5 hour corporate concert to damn near a sold out arena last night.

only playing vegas and L.A. and the tour is OVER! i think only 13 total dates which started june 10 in new jersey. roughly 3.5 weeks together and they didnt miss a beat. you could tell the EVIL MUSIC lawyers were lurking by the songs they did play and didnt play from the cream/traffic/winwood/clapton songlists. but im really glad i didnt miss it. they aint spring chickens anymore and who knows when they will say screw it to ever touring again solo or together.

if yer in LA or vegas the next few days dont miss out. worth every penny.

That's not too bad a price if the seats were good. I've paid that for seventh row for Rush and I've gotten front row for VH for face value. I never buy from Ticketsheister. I just find tix when I get to the show in the parking lot. I have never once gotten stuck and usually made out like a bandit.

I'd love to see them in concert, but that kind of ticket price is absurd and insulting. No offense to anyone who's willing to shell out that much... and I know it's in line with... or less than... what most major artists are charging these days.

However... I do have the 2-CD set of their Madison Square concert and it... is... killer.

Hmmm... I see there's a DVD, too.

You think $150 is a lot to see two living legends who probably ain't gonna be touring much longer? I dunno. I remember when the Eagles were getting north of $100 for their Hell Freezes Over tour and everyone thought it was scandalous. But watch that concert DVD and tell me it wasn't worth it. Besides, their fans are older and can afford it. My first Van Halen show in 1986 cost me $17.50. I still have the ticket stub. Last time I saw them in 2007, I paid $70 at the box office an hour before the show and got seventh row, front and center. I wouldn't pay $150 for just anyone or for lame seats. But give me first couple rows for my favorite band's likely last tour and, yes, I'd pay it.

My wife took me to Vegas for my b-day last year to see Rush, but didn't buy tix in advance, as I always do well with scalped tix. Sure enough, we were looking for tix in front of the hall and some guy had super seats for $300 each. I said that was just too much for my blood. He said, "Well, what did you have in mind?" I said, "About half that." He said, "Ok, I can do it." So we did pay $150 per, but the seats were amazing, right up front.

I understand what you're saying... believe me, I do.

And I know their fans are older and can afford more expensive tix.

And if anybody's worth that much, those two are. Those concerts will be pure magic.

But I ain't gonna pay that much. It's just on principle, I guess.
