Any computer wizards?
 

I have a problem with my e-mail nobody seems to have a solution for. I can send e-mails without a problem. When I add an attachment (doesn't matter what size) it will not send. I an using Outlook Express 6. I have tried turning off my Norton anti virus, re=installing Windows, the help line for my Internet provider etc..
Does anyone have any ideas?

It probably has to do with the settings you have in Outlook to hook up to your e-mail server.

My mother had a similar problem when her password expired with her ISP.

who is your ISP, AT&T, FIOS, Roadrunner etc...? Is it their mail account or another, hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc...

Attachments are usually limited to size and content. Most ISP's like to cap file size at 5mb. If its less than 5, what kind of file is it? The best thing to do with any attachment is to zip it first.

Can you send a small attachment, like a 100k image file? Are you working over wireless or is your computer wired in?

This time size really doesn't matter, no attachments can be sent regardless of size. I have checked and rechecked all of the settings. I am at a loss with fiding a solution.

Check this setting:

Click Tools >Accounts >Mail >Properties >Advanced >make sure "break apart messages over 60kb" is unchecked.

If you are using an email account from your ISP they may have changed something on their end that is affecting you. And no they won't necc notify you of the cahnge.

The bigger ISPs are notorious for blocking ports/specific traffic because it is in THEIR best interest to do so. They could care less about restricting the service that YOU pay for.

Can you receive attachments?

Actually zipping attachments has it's own issues.

A lot of corporate security filters register .zips as potential risks. .zip's are considered by many to be executables since a mail client can be configured to automatically extract the contents.

Who is the ISP? What protocol are us using to connect?

Also is this a work or home connection, wired or wireless connection, what type of router (dlink, linksys, etc)
