BOSTON -- An unruly passenger on board a Delta flight out of JFK Airport in New York forced the plane to divert to Boston's Logan Airport late Friday night.

MassPort officials said a male passenger tried to break into the pilot's cockpit.

Passengers were able to grab the man and hold him until the plane could safely land, a spokesman said.

Delta Flight 86 was en route to Tel Aviv, Israel when it was diverted to Boston.

There were 206 passengers on board the plane.

State police, FBI, MassPort were all on scene Friday night.

The plane was parked in an isolated area of Logan airport while the FBI and Massachusetts State Police boarded the plane.

What's Deltas additional charge for that?

I'm guessing its a charge of about 20,000 volts.

I don't see any danger in that, DELTA stands for Doesn't Ever leave The Airport ;)

I love the way the whole passenger compartment fights now.

As long as that's the case there can probably never be any kind of a 911 repeat.

Not smart, these days I suspect the passengers might beat the ***** out of him on the way back.

I know I sure as hell would have.

I can guarantee there will never be another hijacking of a US aircraft. Passengers won't allow it. I don't care if the guy's got a knife or a gun or whatever - he might kill a couple of us, but he won't kill all of us before we tackle him and beat his ass back to Allah.

Someone tries to rush a cockpit door on a flight I'm on I'd be the first one up out of my seat and all over their ass - I could care less whether I get hurt, cut, stabbed, whatever. It's simple duty.

Agreed 100%

You and me both, too bad there is not a way to throw him from the plane so everyone could continue on their way......it would just be thinning of the herd!!!!!!:D

This is from the GLobe:

Unruly passenger detained at Logan
April 25, 2009 By Milton J. Valencia, Globe Staff

A Delta Air Lines flight headed to Tel Aviv, Israel was diverted to Logan International Airport tonight after a passenger allegedly caused a scare when he became unruly and started banging on seats and the cockpit door.

The passenger, identified as Itay Atmor, a 22-year-old Israeli citizen, was quickly subdued by passengers and crew, said Phil Orlandella, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority.

The plane, a Boeing 767 jet, left JFK Airport about 7:55 p.m., and was diverted to Logan as is standard procedure whenever such an incident occurs, Orlandella said. The plane's personnel immediately reported to airport officials that the passenger was under control.

Atmor was questioned by State Police tonight and is expected to face a federal charge of interfering with a flight crew, Orlandella said. He said Atmor’s passport and paperwork were proper.

If you ever need a weapon fast, a full soda can, or a bar of soap in a sock, used as a sling, can kill a man with one good blow to the head.

Stilletto heels, those sweet little old lady knitting needles, a good pen...

Tough thing about being a bad guy on a plane now. We know the score. If the bad guy gets into the cockpit, then we all die. Take him out anyway possible.

The people on the plane are divided into two groups. Those who will beat him to death and those who will swear it was the most terrible suicide they ever saw.

First thing I thought was, what hospital did they take him to?

I was at Tahoe the last few days for my birthday with my grandson, so if it happened since Friday, I have not heard about it.

I would probably stab him with the Bic before using a Waterman, given the choice; I suppose you could punch a nice little hole with a Cross though, and not have to worry about it breaking if you happened to hit the sternum.
