man! it bothers me when i see a race horse accident, and the horse gets killed.
did you see at a race (kentucky derby?) some runaway horse slammed into a standing horse and jockey? both horses were squirming on the ground in pain. one had to be put down...dont know which one. it was on the news.

It is sad. I worked with thoroughbreds when I was younger and developed a love/hate for them. They are truly aweful animals at times, but very intelligent and majestic.

Sucks to be a horse. Break a leg and you're taking a dirt nap.
That polo team from South America visiting Florida had the real tragedy when 21 horses worth several million died from a badly mixed batch of "vitamins". |

My first horse race experience was in the early '90s at Del Mar. A friend of mine said I would love it. In one of the last races a horse pulled up with a major leg injury. At the far end the vet wagon pulled up and the horse was euthanized right there. Not all that sporting if you ask me - unless the jockey gets the same treatment as the horse. Then I'll bet the race strategy would change quite a bit. Well, that was my one and only horse race experience. No more for me.
