Did you just edit that, I could swear I saw "Atlantic series" ;-) Yes, but he was pretty good in the F3000 feeder series and he was pretty good at Le Mans, and you don't win 4 Champcar crowns by being a bad driver... I had hopes for the guy. At least he's being brutally honest, he admits he can't drive that car well...

I disagree on the skills and confidence, I read a lot about him over the years and I think he's pretty good at setup too... To me it's largely luck as to where you land in your first season. Hamilton got 2 good cars but if he had begun his career this year, he'd be nobody... But you are right, SB cannot adapt to a car that does not fit him, and his team-mate can, so he's gone... What gets me is that he complained about not having any rear end grip all of last year, and they rehired him knowing the cars were getting more front grip and even less rear grip this year ! You gotta wonder what Toro Rosso was smoking... Anyway, too bad, but I'm sure he has no financial worries!

You have to give Button some creds though...Rubens has the wisdom of age and experience of driving very capable cars and influences from some of the greats. So one would expect that he can make a good car a front runner. But Button out drives him in every race so far...so give Button his due.

Oh absolutely, either you misread me or I mistyped.. I'm very much amused that the guy was an "also ran" last year and and is a hero this year! I always thought he was a nice guy, and he's been classy enough not to say "told you so, up yours" this year ! Like I said he has destroyed Barichello so far, no small feat since RB handed him his ass last year ! impressive, and I love seing him kick Hamilton's butt too !

Dunno, seems to me the $$$ cost is the same whenever you start developing it, they were hoping not to have to develop it at all.... just that the sooner you do the sooner you score points, as it turns out. Also some teams asked for a ruling on this from Whiting and were told "illegal", others "legal". It looks bad for the FIA, and it's a stupid way to spend $$$ in these tough times !

But in what other series do you have a problem clearly exposed before the season and the governing body giving itself 4 races to rule on it ? (edit: OK, 2, 3 whatever - it'll be 5 races before they all have the trick aero) It's pretty sad, either way someone was getting burned. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the "in your face" from the 3 ex-loser teams to the big teams, but by the same token, you watch F1 to see the big guys fight it out, so it's a little strange with this mish-mash of radically different tires, cars with and withouth KERS, cars with and without diffusers... Too many variables, almost ! The issue to me is how many points can Button sock away before Ferrari and McLaren recover ? Assuming of course McLaren does not get penalized again next week for the lie-gate !

Chris - did you read about Lewis' interview on the BBC? LOL!

He's really just racing for the fan...not for his own gain. If it weren't for the fans he'd left F1 already.

Greg - Sea-Bass has talent..just not on par with the top 66% of the other drivers in F1. If Champ Car could really spawn great drivers...maybe they should take the top 3 drivers from there and throw them in a GP car...nah...it's be just a waste of time. They'd be better off putting Danica in a GP car...at least they'd get the media coverage. :) Big fish little pond = Sea Bass. (I did edit it..sorry for the slip)

I think even Button is surprised he's on the podium after each race. The grin and reactions he expresses = what the hell just a happened? LOL!

First year landing? Kubica...he was good from day one in an average car.

Arrgh. Been gone for a week, thought I'd come back to China and Bahrain on Tivo, but no - bumped by all the crap stuff the others in this family record. Well, sounds like they were two good races.

Deschodt 04-28-2009 04:38 AM

Honestly, no, not really.... Brazil last year was a good race ;-)
China was a deluge and stopped at 1/2 distance, Bahrein was a snoozer except for the first 2 laps.. Damn I want my WRC back !

OK, I feel better then.
