Scott Pruett and Anger Management

Did anyone see Scott Pruett's reaction after the Rolex race to being hit from behind by the Brumos Porsche?
Almost out of control anger, probably 15 minutes or more after the race. I do understand total involvement and both the dollars and jobs that depend on winning, but this man may need some help with his anger management.

I've seen him race in Indy cars for years and don't recall him having a problem. I didn't see the race but I imagine if I had a tens of grand in damage from some bozo move by another car I'd be fairly hacked. Frankly there are people on this BBS that have had serious anger issues over things far less.

Where did you see this? I taped the race and just went to look for it. As soon as the race was done, they went to other programming....at least on Speed.

Doesn't show the anger event, but here's what happened:

The video shows another race (not Rolex) where teammate Montoya knocks out Pruet. Let's get your "Montoya KO's Pruet" races straight.

In this one, the announcer tries to rationalize how Montoya takes out Pruet; speculates what Montoya thought and why. Mind reader? What a tool.

Did anyone notice that other than Pruet's RR quarter, Montoya didn't have the corner?

I agree, Montoya should have given up the corner. An almost perfect PIT though.

I saw it on a Speed TV week in racing show, hosted by Bob Varsha I think.

I remember that race (Montoya vs Pruett video) from Mexico City a year or two ago. There was commentary about it here on OT, too. Pruett came across as a bit whiney in the post-race interview. Of course, JPM would have been about 10 more times the little b!^#% had the scenario been reversed. Still, that type of maneuver is the last thing you should expect from a teammate. Montoya was a bit faster, IIRC, but that wasn't the corner where he should have (literally) pushed the issue.

Are you kidding? Pruet was controlled by my standards. If I were leading and got taken out like he did only to finish like 12th, I'd have taken a knife and cut that guy's belts and pulled his ass out of the car only to make him suffer in a way that he'd never forget. Notice the guy left his helmet on.

Since there were people around that were monitoring the situation and ready to pull Pruet off, I'd say they agreed with him since they let him continue the barrage. I've been around Pruet enough to know he doesn't have a problem. I just wish I had the audio.

Racing is very emotional. I remember clearing a 4 foot chain link fence at the kart track once to get into an "official's" face over a very bad call. Just like baseball, as long as I didn't deck the jackass, nothing happened as a result AFA being tossed out.

The tape was on The Speed Report. All that was shown was the in car camera from the Brumos Porsche pointed at a very agitated Pruett talking (maybe yelling) at David Donohue. There was no audio. The clip was around 10 seconds.
Looking at Pruetts eyes you could see he was pissed.

Pruett was running third. The incident was in turn one after a yellow.
Quoted from the Speed forum:
"Aha, on reviewing the broadcast, Angelelli hits Donohue as he comes by, just a split second before Donohue hits Pruett and turns him. Angelelli is also well away from the edge of the track when Pruett hits him. That adds up to there not being much room for Donohue between Angelelli and Pruett when Angelelli came by, and quite possibly Donohue being knocked into Pruett by Angelelli himself."

Probably karma.

As much as I hate saying this bout Montoya after his F1 escapades...
He was correct and Pruett should have backed off, JPM had the edge here!

Reminds me of Couthard vs Massa at Melbourne a few years back

"On Sunday Couthard threatened to "knock seven shades of s**t" out of Felipe Massa after the Brazilian shoved his RB4 into the gravel in Melbourne, smashing the suspension."

Scott has always seemed calm and clear headed when I have been around him. As a fan of Scott's since his Karting days, I have always found him to be accessible and willing to talk racing (even when he was an Indy Car pilot).

I recall one time when Scott was trying to get somewhere on foot through the pits at Long Beach in a hurry. He was literally brushing off everyone. He caught a glimpse of my ten year old daughter standing with a program and a pen. Scott's face lit up. He jogged over and signed her program, asked her if she was rooting for him that weekend, and ran off again to get to where he needed to be.

Kudos for Scott.

Uh. IMHO, not enough to be considered a presence for allowance. It looks like he only got up to Pruett's rear bumper

look at the video again, he was up to the door handle when pruett started coming over on him, you can see the brake smoke as he was coming over and when they made contact, afterwards he had been baraking for a few seconds when they hit, which at that point he was up to his rear tire. look at the .22, .23 second mark. i think he was actually further up than the door.

when's the last time you had your eyes checked??

at .23 you are looking at it from an angle.. the onboard camera on the other hand, is clear as can be...

How could he have gotten as far as the door handle, if i'm seeing the right rear tire in all of these pictures??? looking straight ahead over the bonnet???

This brings up an interesting point. Someone please explain. At what point does the car in front lose the right to turn(taking the correct line) into the car trying to get it's nose past on the inside?
