Good Experience with Jimmy -Mobile Works East

Hi All,
Needed an oil change (to Brad Penn) and a valve adjustment. Called little old Mobile Works East, and saw him do a great job in my garage. He brought everything he needed and worked like a pro. He gave my baby an once over and gave me some tips for my front bearings and heater adjustment.

Great Guy.
Very very competent.
Affordable and fair.
Interesting side conversation.

Will use again!!

whatever happened to the people with bad experiences?

were those all resolved?

Wickd89 04-28-2009 06:31 AM

We chatted about that.
As in most things, two sides to every story.

The reason "I have a new mechanic" is because the previous one would not live up to his work (stuff fixed that gave out 1K miles later and would not resolve), and the arrogance of some of the major shops in my area (some of course, not all).

Good thing is that you can easily observe him doing the work and judge for yourself.

For me it was good, and would use again.

Now the other itemsI need done: he could have fixed, but they seem easy enough and I told him I would tackle them first...

Resolved ? I think NOT. I just posted this on another thread re: Jimmy. I stand by every word.....a BS artist and welcher. IMO, he needs to be in the Gray Bar Hotel. Don't like this post, Jimmy....then pay me what you owe.

" Let me tell you something about Jimmy for all you guys who love him so much. He's good at what he does, I'll give him that but he's basically a thief with no character. He has owed me a large sum of money for over two years and not given me anything but BS. I tried to have him served with a Small Claims summons but no one could ever find him. I did have the address of his Mother in San Jose but the service was returned as undeliverable. He still claims that address to be valid. More BS.

I know he's making money but has just blown off his debt to me. There are others up here in the Sac area and Bay Area who lost parts and even entire motors. If you do business with him don't even think of paying anything in advance or letting him take parts with him. You may never see him or them again. He was into one guy up here for about $16K. That got resolved but it wasn't easy and took a lot of work and time. Actually the only reason that was resolved is that it was the guy who OWNS his web page and maintains it.

Add to all that he is not licensed with BAR so is illegally doing mobile work. He only recently got his driver's license back !!

You have been warned. If you want more info or want to help, just PM me. "

This is easy-peasy. Get a friend to book him to come out to work on a car. When he shows up? Voila - SERVED!

people have even been served on an airplane while flying over a state the plane never landed in.

Actually I tried that. He, Jimmy, lives and works in So. Cal. I put out a feeler on Pelican (I don't know anybody personally down there) for help on such a thing w/o mentioning his name. No one replied to my request. Well, not true...one person did but never got to call him for service for some reason. Anyway, didn't work the one time I tried it.

I'm confused. I recall chatting with a "Mobile Works" fellow once, but I think his name was "Tom". Are there two guys doing the same thing using the same business name?

vash 05-03-2009 06:47 AM

two different guys. two different reputations. you just gave poor tom, heart palpitations.

Yes, two different guys and Tom should not be lumped in with the likes of Jimmy just because of the business name. Jimmy used to work for Tom until....well I can't tell you why but it was a 'character matter' (or lack there of) let's say.

Again let me say that Jimmy is a good P car wrench as far as I know. Just not to be trusted. Sad, cuz he could be very successful he would acquire some character and honesty.
