Hot Rod Magazine CHEEEP

Don't know if any of you guys are interested, but here's a link for 36 issues of Hot Rod magazine for 20 bucks:

http://bestdeal.hotrod.com/

I did it, nice to have new reading material by the throne.

I'd probably do it, but I don't read half of the mags that I subscribe to already, and only subscribe to about 1/2 of the mags that I'd like to get.

Great. How to build a multi-million dollar Camaro, the ongoing series.

Hot Rod used to be great until they became the mouthpiece for every aftermarket manufacturer in the universe.

I miss the old days when they actually had good DIY.

The owners really cared about the product when it was a Peterson title. Primedia bought it because it had good circulation numbers and used it as a cash cow while they cut the editorial budget. Source Interlink bought it, and it's just another consumer product to them. Source Interlink would cut editorial entirely and let the advertisers write the magazine as long as it makes them a few bucks before it dies. At $10 for a 3 year sub you are basically paying for half the postage. The advertisers are driving the content, so you're subsidizing the delivery of junk mail to your door.

I mean, how many articles can they run advertising the same old Resto Rod and Pro Touring crap over and over?

It used to be about creativity and really modifying cars, not dumbing it down to trends and basically store-bought pieces.

I really don't know of any serious hot rodders (guys who really know how to build) who even read that or Camaro Craft anymore.

I remember reading one letter to the editor they printed:

"We don't need another article on how to build a 300HP Chevy 350. Why don't you do something useful like a 1,200HP Chrysler Hemi?"

It's true...THey need something like that.

I subscribed to and pretty much enjoyed Kit Car magazine. It went down the tubes and the company substituted the remainder of the subscription with Hot Rod. What a POS! I let the subscription run out obviously. I also didn't renew my Excellence subscription, although it had a little interesting substance to it.

Excellence is head and shoulders above Hot Rod. Least you can get updates on all the new and old stuff.

I read excellence in the Gym (someone has a subscription)

Hot Rod / Car Craft magazine got to the point where i'd just thumb through the mag on the rack and then call it a day. No need to purchase- see something different I'd buy...

Excellence is in a class by itself. Everyone here knows that.

I went to the first event that Hot Rod [Bikes] held and it blew chunks............This was back in the early 90's and hot (read fast) Harley's were the next big thing. Most of the sponsers had nothing to do with motorcycles............at all.

Total obvious posers/wanna-bees trying to cash in
