I filled up my tank once and got a very convincing fake Rolodex:

Chinese?

When I was in the service and stationed overseas (69-70), a Rolex could be purchased for about $250. I have no reservations about wearing my watch and have never seen it as a status symbol. It's what I wanted at that time, I bought one and never had any reservations. I hope a grandson will enjoy it some day. It's more a part of me today than almost anything else I own. Don't even know if they made fakes back then.

Wear what you want and buy what you want, life is way too short!

I bought two watches from these people.... 3 years ago.
a GMT and a two tone day-date. The GMT winding stem broke after about a year, took it to a
watch repair/jewler. He said it was one of the best fakes he'd ever seen.
The japanese fakes are pretty good, for about 400.00 I got two pretty good watches. The day-date is a very nice piece !

Not a fake, but I've always lusted for one of these:

My next "attention getter" timepiece will be a Wal-Mart original!

Be sure to do your homework; there are a LOT of Wal-Mart knock-offs out there!

Rolex did make one in 1949 but it doesn't look like that.

Ha! I'd never have guessed that - is it a valued collector's piece?

BeyGon 05-05-2009 10:13 AM

Yes, but they might have made others, the 49 only has numbers a 3, 9, and 12. Mickey is at the bottom and facing the stem. It is an automatic.

If your driving a handmade German car, why not wear a handmade German watch - here are 2 of mine....

If you're looking for a solid, durable, good-looking diver or chronograph for a reasonable price, check out St. Moritz... I bought an M1 Momentum a few years ago online for $80 and have been very happy with it.

The problem with having a watch to fit the car is that I keep the watches longer, I would have to look for cars to match the watch, I can't think of any Swiss cars.
Maybe I could go Japanese, I have a couple Seikos.

The Swiss quit making cars when the holes were found to be impractical. :D I'm sorry... what was this thread about?

Totally inapropriate! A fake Rolex deserves a high quality F40 knock-off:
