Well the time has come.
Almost three years ago my buddies and I built our first beer pong table. It was a fine table. To our estimate it has seen 500+ games, countless woman, and even withstood Hurricane IKE as a storm shutter.
The time has come to build a fancier, stronger, and sexier table. One that will awe college students all around the world. Here are the details: -3 inch hole saw to cut 10 holes on each side of a 6 ft piece of plywood. -ping pong net in the middle to prevent "roll backs." -Silicon spray around the cuts to enhance waterproofing. -quarter round around the perimeter to prevent spillage onto carpet. -built in ball washer to insure beer is always clean and freash. Here are some preliminary pictures of the jig I just built.

A few engineer buds of mine went all out on a table. It's made of some nice, quality wood, and was varnished like mad to give it a really nice surface. They used some folding legs from a table on the bottom and made it hinge with some nice brass hinges in the middle for easy storage.
I don't have any pictures of the final product, but here is one from the construction- the two halves were about to be put together at the center with the hinges.  All the holes were jigged and routed out with a nice profile on them.

Oddly we drive identical cars also.
Schumi, How did you join the wood? Biscuits? Got some new idea's from that.

Those two pieces he bought as one whole board. He didn't make any joints. I forget where Brad got the board but he paid a boat load.
You can roughly see there in that pic where the two hinges go. He routed slots in the ends so the hinges sit flush in the table. They were just fancy brass door hinges found at lowes.

So two four foot sections? I bet that piece of wood was expensive. I'd rather get 4 ft long pieces of oak and then biscuit them together, it would take me a couple of weekends though.

Yes, I believe so.
Joining smaller boards would most likely be the cheaper way to go. All total, I believe Brad spent around $150-200 on that table, if my memory is correct.

Table is pretty much done. Took me the better part of 4 hrs.

Form follows function when it comes to beer pong IMO.
However.. Being a drinking-oriented engineering school, S&T guys have built some pretty amazing tables, as far as I have seen... The one that takes the cake is a guy who built in an automatic ball washing device, where you drop the used ball into a hole where it is whisked away by a water steam, disappears into the inner workings of the table, washes it, and then it comes down a little water slide into a tray at the back of the table, where the water recirculates. It is have a pleixglass top over wood that has neon lights embedded into it, that are wired to glow in time with music being played. All this is controlled by a embedded micro controller that takes input from a keypad on the side of the table...

Where I come from, cup holes are for sissies. If you knock over a cup by accident, it means a fresh beer makes its way into your stomach. Makes me miss college. Drink up!
