Jeremy, that could be what I am looking for. I've been struggling trying tto find that "hybrid" with creature comforts on top of a serious fishing boat as well. But without going to 30' and payung a 100K. I don't fish too much but still want a good stable hull to take longer trps areound the Cape and Nantucket. I also agree with bringing the wife to look. If I go to serious and spartan she'd kill me and the kids like the cabin amenities. |
Dude, that looks like one seriously fast boat.

Pursuit makes great boats. They are solid - built well and tend to hold their value. They also tend to be more SUV like - meaning you can use them for all sorts of activities from fishing to pulling a tube to cruising with lots of seats for everybody.
Scout makes a nice boat a little more expensive but this one has outboards http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2003-Scout-280-Abaco-94149593 |

vinman..............what have you heard about merc 600SC's?????????????? all i have heard is GOOD about 525EFI's. dont plan on taking it offshore boat racing. if i was i'd get a fountain. really just slamming the throttles forward until my wallet cant stand it any more as i watch the fuel gauge go down muy rapido! and really at powell or Roosevelt or even lil tiny bartlett lake 1/2 hour from me it would be limited WFO. since in the big scheme of mercs, 525's and 600's are on the low end of HP ratings, adding a supercharger gonna make much difference in longevity? buddy had a ford SC thunderbird car, that he ran the SNOT out of here summers and never had a problem with summer temps. hell he still has the car and he was not exactly kind to it. ambient temps do run into the 115 degrees plus some summers, but lake water remains pretty much 75 degrees. so with a boat i dont see overheating problems. |
You won;t have a problem with overheating - but you better find a fuel barge ;)

i am blessed that bartlett lake is a 1/2 hr away from home. great coastline. beach it about anywhere. pleasant lake also about 1/2 hr away is very open and windy. all rock coastline. both are good for some go fast runs and ya dont get bored.
roosevelt is BIG! main water supply for phx. BIG BIG BIG DAM holds it back. all the lakes below it(4) are puny. nice country but too small for large boats. my entire goal @ powell, is to blast from wahweep harbor to escalante. get gas at dangling rope marina and enter escalante. and go putt putt. rock overhangs big enough to park boat under and never get rained on. incredible area. mega erosion over the ions created this. indian ruins, big horn sheep, elk, deer, and STRIPPED BASS OUT THE ASS! powell is so big fed by 5 major rivers the water is some of the cleanest on the planet midlake. upstream it is cloudy from sedimentation. i have taken my 25 ft PIG CRUISER all the way to hite marina in utah. and that my friends is one hell of a long way seeing nothing but water and navajo red sandstone. escalante is the place fer ME! best vacation of my LIFE EVER! powell is a true GEM and should not be missed by anyjuan who owns a boat big or small. best times are late august thru winter up until 100plus temps late june. then its a CAULDRON! ask me how i know since we spent 2 1/2 weeks there in freeking JULY! after going to boats.com some of the deals now are freeking NUTZ! stimulate the economy single handed like me! NEVER SAY NEVER! HANG THE EXPENSE! SCREW IT you only live once and ya might as well be surrounded BY BIKINIS! BEER BOATS BIKINIS PORSCHES GUNS................WTF ELSE IS THERE??????? jeremyd...............thats why i like 525EFI's..............better fuel(FOOL) range! |
Just for local lakes and perhaps Sacramento River trips for Stripers, etc. Got this last Fall from a guy who only bought it the previous April. Had only 2 hours on the motor. It's a Boston Whaler Montauk 150.

Hey, 911Rob - you need a bigger boat. That little skiff looks puny behind your H1!

Sold mine 3 days ago, still celebrating.
If it Flies, Floats or F___s, it's cheaper to rent. (used 5 times, sold for $2000 less than I paid) |
My wife is a self proclaimed water bug, just stole this off craigslist for her last week.
21' cuddy with a v8. She's a happy lady. http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x...f/DSCN3887.jpg |

35' Cabo...took 2 months till the Mrs came down and checked it out...didn't want ANY part of the boat. A cruise around San Diego Bay on a warm fall evening...mission accomplished;) She doesn't fish, but I entertain clients with it and the guys from work and I will have "safety meetings" at the slip.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1241551664.jpg
