I am the NRA

Just got my membership stuff, decided against the magazine, rather they spent the money on more important stuff

Welcome aboard...life member here.

jyl 05-05-2009 01:20 PM

I like the magazine. I leave it around for visitors to see. Here in Portland, provokes some funny reactions.

I can imagine. One of my favorites is: "Oh...you're one of those!" :D

The magazine makes my wife cranky. She says parents won't let their kids come to play if they know we have guns in the house. I just roll my eyes. When she's not looking.

Good, all the more reason I'm buying more guns. Last thing I want is parents dumping their rugrats off here. Let 'em go over the other parents' houses and yell, scream, run around, carry on and make a mess. Fine by me. I'll hang out in blissful peace & quiet until they're ready to come home! ;)

Should of kept the magazine.
It is worth it, just for the 'armed citizen' column.

She says that like it is a bad thing:rolleyes:

Reminds me of a refrigerator magnet that shows a 50's housewife and baby - "I childproofed the house, but they still get in".

HardDrive 05-05-2009 02:31 PM

You should get the magazine. Its good bathroom reading. I don't leave them around the house. People in Seattle would absolutely think twice about allowing their kids to come over, and I don't want my daughter missing out.

If any of you gun nuts are near Phoenix late next week, the NRA's annual meeting/convention is here. It's a HUGE event. I think it runs Friday thru Sunday. I'll probably be there every day, as I have some clients coming to town for it. I'm sure most of the Phoenix-area Pelicans will be swinging by and we could get something together if you want.

What's the deal with all the wine info I receive after I joined the NRA?

m21sniper 05-05-2009 03:19 PM

All the more reason to leave the magazine out. You can find out who the stupid morons around you are.

RPKESQ 05-05-2009 03:21 PM

I posted this message in the "Off Topic discussion" thread titled "Advice on Carry-Piece"

You know, you should join the NRA to protect your rights to carry that gun... NRA is offering a 1 year membership for free (I called and confirmed that it's not an internet hoax or some scammer trying to get your information) If you don't believe me then call yourself

Finally joined. I'm officially a gun nut. Fortunately, that's not a bad thing in KS.;)

Around here, leaving the magazine out would mean most dads (and some moms) would bring their kids by just so they had an excuse to peruse my toys...

+1. WTF?

Rick Lee 05-05-2009 06:11 PM

Use "X." for your middle initial when you join. THat way you'll be able to tell when you get bombarded with other direct/junk mail where they got the list.
