Cannelloni - impossible to find

Anyone here know where I can find cannelloni pasta shells? I'm in the Houston area and I can't find these anywhere. I've tried Central Market, Rice Epicurean Market, Spec's and most of the Italian Deli's. I've even tried eBay, but the only ad was for a supplier in the UK!

I want to stuff the bare shells myself. I can find already stuffed, frozen dinners. I can also find manicotti shells - everyone has those. But I want the smooth cannelloni, not the manicotti with the ridges. I'd even send away for them if need be.

or why not just use sheet pasta and roll your own around whatever filling you like.

I have used the pasta sheets and rolled them with filling inside. That works pretty nicely, but isn't quite the same as having the tube.

The thing that kills me is you can find 100's of recipes that start out - "cook the cannelloni according to the directions on the package", but they don't tell you where to get the package!!

I know what you mean. I've been searching all over for a used bike and the Italians are expensive and hard to find. Torelli, Mondonico and Guerciotti? Fugedabout 'em. Like you, I never could find a Campagnolo at a price I could handle so I bought a Bianchi. I picked it up last night and barely got a chance to ride it, but I have to say, there's nothing like Italian flair.

I'm going to go with the pasta sheets or egg roll skins for now until I find a source. You can find cannelloni at most good italian restaurants. I guess I could ask them where they get their shells.

But there's no excuse for all these recipes that call for cannelloni when there is no place to get them. Why not call for hen's teeth or ground unicorn horn while their at it.

And you have to love the Italians. Be it automobiles, motorcycles, food, clothing, violins, cycling components, organized crime or large-breasted women, they are good at what they do! For a country that small to produce that many high quality goods is remarkable.

Make you own!! Fresh pasta is easy to make and so much better than store bought.... Doesn't really take much time to "roll your own"
