511 Impregnator, by Miracle.
Solvent based. Does not change surface appearance.
Lasts for years.

Blue plastic container.

Can/should you use the same stuff for granite?

Sorry to butt in KT

Yes it can/should be used for granite. Beware - the stuff (511 Impregnator) smells like hell. You need to wear a mask or have a VERY VERY well ventilated area. Work in smaller sections, like 3'x3', work in the sealer, then buff it away with a clean cloth BEFORE IT DRIES. If you miss - and it dries before you get it off - then reapply over the area and buff. I highly recommend a electric buffer to clean it all off. I apply this every 4-5 years on our granite slab counters...or until water no longer beads on the surface.

Good stuff. I sealed our MBR shower with it when we moved in. Almost 5 years now and I just reapplied it. 2-3 showers daily and the floors look as new.

I recently started fabricating granite and have been getting up to speed at stoneadvice.com. One brand of sealer mentioned often is Surface Treatment Technologies, sttsealers.com, which appears to compare very favorably with 511 impregnator (equal to or better as a sealer with fewer coats). Don't think you can go wrong with 511, though.

I asked a friend who's a geologist at a local university about the radiation danger of granite. He laughed and said it's media hype, don't worry about it and buy what ever granite from where ever you like.

Thanks for the 511 tip, I've been needing to seal mine for a while.
