CDJ closing list

This sucks, for the dealers.

This represents a lot of jobs gone. Sad.

peppy 05-14-2009 02:38 PM

Some of the dealers did have multiple brands.

True, but that doesn't mean the dealers can afford to move these guys into the other lines, at a time when car sales are already slow:(

We got a letter months back from the local dealer who said that they were being sold out to another dealer at Chrysler's request. I guess they've already done what they can. I read that some of the small dealers sold only 100 cars per year. That's < 10 month. Or < 3 a week. Independant dealers have to be doing better than that.

They don't need the dealers means they don't need the dealers.....

It's sad for the individuals involved but this part is right as rain.

Cant say I feel sorry for some of them. In Maryland Antwerpen and Fitzgerald (Lakeforest) have abysmal reputations. Tried to get just decent service on my SRT8, just not possible at those two dealers.

I'm a few mos. away from being in the market for a truck. I'm gonna miss some smoking deals.

It's pretty obvious that the Obama administration doesn't give a flying ***** about saving jobs other than those held by union members. This is small potatoes for them.

This is a sad day no matter how you want to slice it. The end of an era. But would you still want to be a Chrysler Dealer after all of this? Maybe Chrysler is doing them a favor instead of draging it out.

BTW they got two here in LV, and one of them was the nearest to where I live...The owner is a long time NV resident who likes to buy up Hotels, Bars and small casino in NV's small towns. Most to jus keep them going. I met his daughter and ex....they like Airedales btw.

Sad for the owners and employees.

I know 20 or more on the list. Worked for two

Too bad for the dealers there isn't a dealer's union. They could the keep their dealerships and get to own 40% of the company.

jyl 05-14-2009 09:54 PM

How many of those dealers would be going BK anyway, a few months or a year from now? Everyone got used to 14-15MM SAAR, it's not going back there any time soon.
