You gotta watch those DVDs... (GT racer : the series)
I forgot who clued me in on those, maybe it was even on this board, but I just got the GT racer :The series DVDs and I'm glued to the TV...
It's about 1950-66 GT historic racing in Europe and the US, with gentleman drivers, it's filmed very very well (not your Utube quality in-car camera, more like HD on a good DVD player), and the sights and sounds are a-ma-zing... If you have oil and blood in your veins, get that set for the price of 3 qts of Mobil 1 ! I've found another car I'm in lust with.. (aston DP 214) ![]() Anyway, there may be a little too much time spent on "count von shalppendorf meets Baron Tutili", I mean obviously those guys aren't poor, and at times the Euro pop/techno is irritating, but if you want to hear and see cool old Vettes race Astons, Cobras, Ferraris, Porsches (admittedly not the primary focus but some nice SWB 911s and 356s), Alfas and Bizzarinis driven at speed - that's your show ! (http://www.spiritlevelfilm.com/) they had an offer for that set of 2 DVDs (GT racer, 6 episodes) + another Aston martin special (shaken and stirred) for like $33 ! The aston DVD actually played on one of the US HD channels, so maybe you can skip that one and record it later, but it's a good combo deal... The makers had the good sense of not encrypting those things with region codes, it plays on my US blue ray player (standrd DVD)... No vested interest other than just sharing with you guys !!! Very cool video... It's like playing GT legends on you computer ! |
