What should I ask for this BMW 318ti?
One of the stepdtrs wants to sell her car, spend the summer working in NYC and buy something a little newer/4door in the fall.
Its a 1998 BMW 318ti....about 149K miles but you will recall I put a new engine from a 85K 318 in it this past fall. Clean little car, never wrecked, a few door dings, soso paint respray in a shade slightly different than stock (dark mettallic blue green). Perfect interior save for a 2 inch tear on driver;s bolster. Lowered with new Kons/Eibach springs. M3 front and rear bumpers; M3 wheels. Automatic, cold a/c. Some type of upgraded stereo with amps and woofwers yadadadada......what should it be worth realistically? .

Well she put it on eBay week before last unbeknownst to me and it fetched $4K. Guy bought it for his dtr. They flew in and picked it up Saturday. They were tickled.
Before he came to get it I went over the car, changed a weeping oil pan gasket, flushed and replaced power steering fluid and determined it needed a new cam pos sensor. I told him about that and knocked $100 off since he could do that himself and a genuine BMW replacement was $98 from our host. Now she's shopping for a new car...with her Dad's help....thankfully I'm outta the kids and cars bidness forever

$4k is a solid price for an auto- I've casually looked at these. Always really liked them. I wish BMW had a hatch version of the 1 series in USA. Hatches are good.

It was a good little car...very nimble but somewhat (!) underpowered. Especially with the auto. I drove one a guy had put an M3/5 sp motor/tranny in one and lightened/lowered it. An absolutely hoot and blindingly fast at about 2300#s. Yup...the hatch is cavernous.
