Bobcat adventures
So we're doing a "quick" 20 last Wednesday after work. We started off about 6PM.
The end of the run outbound is a 3.5 mile bike path through part of the Addicks reservoir. We're running along, and there is a deer in the path. This is an area surrounded by suburbia. Cool. The water is still high to the south, so the deer was probably close to the path for that reason. We finish the outbound and start the return wondering if we are going to see the deer again. In about the same area, we see something looking like this guy: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1242659097.jpg News link as well http://blogs.chron.com/insidekaty/archives/2009/02/bobcat_sighting_2.html Holy crap! A Bobcat in the bike-trail. This is a small island of 'wild' surrounded by suburbia. It looked like a 20 lb cat, and we were only about 100 feet from it before it ran off the trail. Man. Screw the coyotes. Screw the lizards! We have bobcats! |
Man red-beard, you have all the luck. I have wondered about the deer during the rising of the water in the A-res. I had heard about bobcats in the area but thought they were further west past 99. A client told me that he suspect there were bobcats in the G Bush park bike trails.

We have them here too. I don't worry about coyotes at all, but bobcats keep me well armed when I'm out in the bush. A little girl was attacked by one in a tract neighborhood here a few weeks ago.
