Chrysler - maybe...when they start giving them away...

Chrysler dealerships that have been blown the kiss of death, have until June 9th to unload their inventory. This story...

http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2009/autos/0904/gallery.chrysler_deals/index.html

...suggests unbelievable deals are in the works.

Okay, so I've secretly lusted for a 300 C SRT or one of those 4-door Charger Super Bees in green or yellow.

Anyone else thinking of pulling the trigger on a Chrysler fire sale?

Remember, it's not the car's fault the company went belly up. ;)

I'm keeping my eye out for any killer deals on a pickup.

I bet there will be tons of killer deals on p/u trucks - Chrysler built so many of them.

Last I checked Dodge was part of this family. And I believe they've made a truck or two...

Yeah. Dodge, I mean. I don't think Chrysler made trucks - by name. Made vans though...I think.

Does anyone know where to find the list of which dealerships are being closed?

Yup. I would pick up one of those as well at a fire sale price.

There isn't a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep I'm interested in. But if there was, I'd be talking to those dealers. I suspect that the hottest models (Challenger, etc) won't be cheap. But a good time to buy that Dodge Neon you've always wanted.

What about all of the blinging 300Ms around town, that will be coming up from lease soon?

There's dozens of them in my neighborhood alone...and you know they're ALL on lease. Same with the black on black Chargers that are prolific around here.

Are they all going to be sold at auction pricing when the lease ends?

Those cars have already been sold, by the manufacturer to the dealership, then by the dealership to the leasing company. The leasing company owns the car, and leases it to the end user/consumer.

When they come off lease, they will go back to the leasing company, and be sold at wholesale auction, as usual.

I have got mixed emotions w/r to the demise of Chrysler.

On a Chrysler related topic, I don't know which one I miss the most, the hair or the Six Pack Challenger. ( photo circa 1973)

Can't stand the make, I feel for the employees....

I'll pass that along to my father in law, I think he's considering buying a new work truck. Might be a great time, as I believe there's several small dealerships near him in Central KS that will be closing.

Really? I did not know that. I figured that the lease returns got the once over and were sold as "factory qualified" pre-owned cars, or whatever each company is calling it these days.

Honestly, all leases are sold at auctions? It seems like someone would be losing money at that game.

Yes, the suckers that lease the cars in the first place.

Unless vehicles are 50% off MSRP, I'll pass. I have not seen a Chrysler product that was not junk after 3 years. I have done my share of wrenching on Chrysler product - no thanks.

I don't want to buy anything from a company that is a ward of the state...so, GM is off my list as well.

m21sniper 05-18-2009 11:48 PM

Gotta agree with PWD.

As far as i'm concerned we should boycott them both and support Ford with all our purchases. And i freakin' hate Ford.
