Yamaha Vision550 h2o cooled vtwin, jumpstart?

Well, it just came to me, with a good title, but no keys. I spent at least an hour pulling the helmet/seat lock, and the locksmiths (son) says, "hey, just the blank opens it". Well, it doesnt open the tank or on the ignition.

Yammie dealer sent me to this locksmith, and he has done old hondas and yammies for me before.

So, short of pulling off the fairing, and the lock, can I hotwire this bike? I read that some Yammies have a "double loop" antittheft or somesuch. I would just instal some switch and button if i could, just to ride this bike this mem. day weekend. Any help from experienced cycle guys appreciated.. can email me at tsnapcracklepop on yaho.

It is the improved 1983 model, dual discs.

I do have the title, but no key.

there are no numbers on the lock faces themselves, like on a lot of bikes. #111 is on the back of the helmet lock, but the smith says this is not in synch with his computer info. If anyone could tell from the VIN, I would appreciate that info.

From the (very) small bit of knowledge I've accrued from a locksmith buddy over the last 30 years, I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and pull the lock.
A buddy of mine had one of those in the mid-80's, he traded it on a 1000 Ninja as he thought I was too fast for him on my 550 GPz (his problem was solved).
I have a free rear wheel for the thing in my shop if you find yourself in my town, you shouldn't be too far away.

I know on some bikes that the ignition key is two sided and the helmet lock and tank are single sided. By taking apart the helmet lock and gas lock you can cut the single sided patterns onto one key which makes the two sided ignition key. Wish I could be more help but I have only lost the keys to one motorcycle and it was years ago

Pull the ignition and let the locksmith cut you some keys. Any other solution would be half-assed at best.

I had an 83 Vision back in the early 1990's, pretty neat bike.

PS: Don't ever ArmorAll your motorcycle tires! Ask me how I know...

pulled the ignition plug off the switch, looks like she is locked up. Went by the house where I found it to get more of the story. He says he was going along and it started knocking, the he shut it down, after depressing the clutch lever. Then it seized up. He tried to roll it in top gear, wouldn't move the crank. Last night I jacked it up and cannot turn the rear wheel in first gear with a 6 foot oak timber wedged in the rear wheel. Pulling plugs to soak it this weekend. Probably lower end is my guess.
