I bought a http://www.digittronics.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=622 Spycopter 3 for $129 (helicopter and 2.4 digital 4 channel controller) at the RCX show a couple of weeks ago. So far, I have gone through 2 tail rotors. I am too extreme with the controls and don't have a big enough area in my living room to get the hang of it.
As far as the helicopter not going higher than 5 feet, take a careful look at the area where the motor gear meshes with the large horizontal main gear. I had a couple hard landing and the main rotor had dropped down a little bit so the two did not completely engage. Just a thought, David |
Weird... I got it to fly fine for a whole charge cycle last night.... Charging it up again to see what it'll do....
|
lithium's can be finicky............if thats what yoi have....
|
Its a Li-Po.... and ya its working fine now... Guess I need to be sure it charges really good every time....
|
My god, what a great little ship...S107. I bought two, one for me and one for my Dads birthday. The quality for $27.00 is, frankly, amazing.
His birthday celebration was tonight, 80 years young. While one flew the other charged...Flight of the Valkyries. The waves break east and west simultaneously... |
Like the dumbest guy I know ran mine down twice without killing the chopper... Nuff said... They're great....

I bought the Esky simulator that came with a USB controller. The program is clunky, so I searched around for an inexpensive program and found "ClearView" ClearView RC Flight Simulator - Home that has some great reviews. It had some great reviews, so I bought it for $40. My controller works with it, and I found a bunch of additional helos and planes available for download.
I am starting to understand the basic fundamentals. I have crashed about 100 times, so the simulator was great advice! |
They have a larger version out now, the Syma S032 - I haven't seen a lot of it but it's bigger and getting good reviews.
I'm probably going to buy the Horizon Tandem Rescue copter tomorrow... |
Just bought a "real flight" WOW you can follow your bird of choice, "be in" your bird or fly on line with others........have not tried that yet

SmileWavy I picked up the new bird today. Pics later...after the kids go to bed... |
I Have not figured out how to get it on line......the mustang is a WOW
|
Oh yeah, this copter's neat.

I picked up something. Don't know the brand, something no-name, I figure it is a disposable beginner craft to learn on. Looks like a Syma S101? Electric, co-axial rotors, gyro, 3-channel, radio controlled. My son (10 y/o) and I are getting the hang of it.
Problem is, it can't seem to fly upwind in even a light breeze. The (don't know the terminology) tail rotor that is supposed to pitch it forward in order to fly ahead doesn't seem powerful enough. I figure we'll get better at flying this and then get something more capable. Definitely not into indoor flight, we have too much breakable stuff in the house. |
This guy is awesome. I would have thought the scale bodies were too heavy.
Mr. Hino's RC-converted plastic model helicopters |
Okay, first one to post a video from their RC helicopter wins - admiration, I guess.
C'mon, you can afford a micro-videocam. Buy It Now for $6.66. |
Wonder what that weighs? Not sure my Syma has enough thrust...
|
My son's Syma has taken on a strange oscillation, it won't hover level. When I try to hover it quickly starts rolling, the blades hit, and it crashes. Any suggestions? The blades visually appear to be fine, only a few nicks on the leading edges. No other visual damage. Maybe the balance bar above the rotors?
|
Check the balance bar..... Mine occasionally has a funny whine at full speed... When it does that it starts to counter rotate and drops instantly....
