bought a truck today

I have been searching for a cheap pickup to be used for Home Depot runs and to have the ability to pull a car trailer Anyway after 2 months of looking at some real crap out there I found a good one. A 1997 GMC 1/2 ton extended cab. It is a one owner truck that is in excellent condition inside and out. Has all power options, 5.7 engine and factory tow package including a brake controller. Only one tiny dent on the tail gate other than that no scratches, dents. Has 98,201 miles and pulls like a train ! I got it for $5500.00 which for around here and the condition I think is a good price. I will get it tomorrow and will post a few pics.

Good for you. I have the Chevy model. same year. 4x4. Just turned 82,000. Picked it up in March of 2000. It's been (so far) an excellent purchase. Your's should have the 'Vortec' engine. Only puts out 255 hp but it's enough for the hauling and towing that I do here in Colorado. Believe it or not, at about 72mph I can get 19-21 mpg with it.

You got a good deal.

I'm starting my search for such a truck and am not finding a lot of killer deals out there.

I just remembered I had the ad bookmarked so there are lots of pics on the link.

I have owned Chevy trucks in the past, Suburbans and pickups and they never let me down so I'm hoping this one will continue that trend. She will have plenty of guts to pull a 911 or 914 on a trailer.

I just bought an 83 f250 with an 8 foot bed and a brand new crate 351w with only 500 miles on it. it has been primered for paint but since it's a work truck used to pull a car trailer and our boat. were just gonna give it a quick spray of grabber orange.

Amazing what pricing a 12 year old truck still commands. I sold my 9 year old F150 extended cab with 200k miles for $4500 ...

Lee H here in Phoenix has a friend who can get you into the auctions. Lots better deals there if you have cash in the hand.

Absolutely love my Dodge Cummings and am getting 27 mpg on the road, 24 mpg in town.

I have a 98 4X4 that I have owned since new. It has been an excellent truck and still going strong with 115k. A couple of things to watch for are fuel pump failure and leaking intake manifold gasket(coolant loss) at around 80k.

Absolutely right. I had to have mind done last year. Fuel pump 2 years before.

If you have the 4x4 change the fluid in the diff's as well. With limited slip they're suppose to be done every 20-25,000 miles.

Still not a spot on the driveway, oh, just had to do the radiator as well. Make sure you change the transmission oil cooler 'O' rings when you disconnect to replace the radiator. They looked good, so I didn't. (I know, I know) After it warmed up, I was out in the driveway with brake cleaner, rags, and new 'O' rings.
