really stupid question for the star trek, nerds...i mean superfans.
hey, during all the space battles, why doesnt the federation just use their transporter technology, and beam the enemy into space? they friggen beamed whales, so dont tell me it is those star trek, brooches they wear on their shirts. i didnt watch too many episodes.
i mean, when the bad captain is "on the com", just lock on and beam him into space... |
I dunno, probably doesn't work through shields.
|
Steve is right. The ships have to drop their shields. Although the rule was broken.
|
Against the Geneva Convention.
|
Shields. That's also why when Kirk is on the planet and the Enterprise comes under attack in orbit, they can't simply beam Kirk aboard before taking evasive action, the Enterprise has to leave Kirk to be ravished by the lady aliens.
Although, since they had forward and side and rear shields, you'd think they could open a little hole in the shields to use the transporter. |

Like when rescuing picard from the borg cube. |
Anybody ever heard the phrase: "Willing suspension of disbelief"???
Seems to me there's a whole lot of that needed for anything Star Trek Of course, everybody knows that star wars is legit. |

Oh, sorry. I only know about TOS. I like TNG okay but never got into it.

That would be a violation of the prime directive.
It's in there, paragraph 17. |
I mainly followed TNG. I was living with a tall bi-sexual blonde chick named Kim at the time, and believe it or not it was her favorite show. She thought Picard was just the hottest thing going.
LOL. |
The answer is:
"Because the Federation does not have Chuck Norris".;) |
The shields operate as a specific frequency and ya gotta know that exact number otherwise, they're impenetrable. (see: The Mind's Eye). To avoid the Borg's cutter beams, they rotated their shield frequencies enough so that they could stop the energy beam. It's a cheesy way to make the shields worthwhile. Nothing can penetrate 'em cuz they make up the physics as they go!
|
I picked up the animated series recently. What a dissappointment. I guess the only reason I liked it when I was a kid, was because I was 8 years old. Man they were cheesy.
Never mind that people like Larry Niven wrote stories for the show. Still awful. |
They could beam 7 of 9 to my place anytime.
|
Because doing so would violate Brannigan's Law.
I don't pretend to understand Brannigan's Law, I merely enforce it. |
