Junkyards in Maryland

My soon to be 14 year-old son has developed a real interest in cars and really wants to go to a junkyard; why i don't really know, although it could be a fun day out for him and me. I seem to recall that there is a junkyard near Baltimore where you take your own tools, remove whatever you want from the cars and strike a deal for the parts. Am I dreaming this up? If not, where is it located?

Thanks.

Mike

There are some really big junkyards south of Baltimore in a place called Upper Marlboro.

Good luck!

I think it's Crazy Ray's in Jessup. Pay $1 to get in and walk around and find what you want. They will move the cars to get to something you need. Wear good shoes....it's a mess....well a junkyard.

Crazy Ray's, http://www.crazyraysautoparts.com/direct.htm

There are a few locations, just be prepared to hustle for parts if you go on a weekend. The stock changes all the time, different junk to see everytime you go.

Wear old shoes you don't care about would be my advice. The pick your part places around here are really dirty. I don't see how they miss the super fund clean up.

Any junkyard is a mechanically inclined dreamers paradise.

"Let's see, I could weld this to that and...."
