i have trash neighbors who have 3 dogs that bark at me every time i go in my back yard or on my new deck...my simple solution is dog training. Vineager and water (75v to 25 w) in a strong squirt bottle..i can reach there doggie door with it...when the bark..they get squirted, they are beginning to associate me with being good or else...

I worked it so that it didn't come back to me. Besides, the city cannot divulge where the tip came from unless you are calling the police about a specific instance. In that case, they may want to involve you to reach a settlement so they don't have to come out again. However, the police did give me the option of remaining anonymous. There were several neighbors affected, so it could have been anyone.

Then I called code enforcement making it look like the police made the report about the code issues. In reality, the police could care less about code issues.

Our stupid dog barks at the neighbors but they, as I have found out, give him treats over the fence. I can't stand it when he barks constantly at people walking by or, heaven forbid, someone walking a dog. I know it's in their nature but man, it bugs me to no end. I don't want to be one of those pesons who just yells at their dog so I will usually tell him to go lay down which he does.

Lately, he's taken to barking at my kids when they are driving the Barbie Jeep around the yard. Same thing, I tell him to go lay down or if he really pi$$es me off, I'll put him in the house.

The problem with dogs is dogs. If there is one single factor that degrades my neighborhood, it's dogs. I'm not saying that's the only problem, just if there was one that could be eliminated, that would be the one.

Even the planes overhead go away after 10 pm.

I agree which is one of the reasons i get ticked when OUR dog is the one barking like a fool.

He is a good dog and watches out for the kids but I liken him to some mall cops. Just a LITTLE over ambitous in doing the job.

I honestly feel bad, because I know that they only want attention. The people can't take care of their kids...much less the dogs. they get a new puppy like every 6/7 months.....then it gets added to barking pool

I imagine water sprinklers you could turn on from inside the house would have quickly solved this problem.

She'd come over at night, kick and swear, then run away. Truly weird behaviour.. I had some pleasant interactions w/ her too, when she was gardening etc. I think she was developing mental problems. Felt bad for her husband, who was a nice guy but as whipped as can be.

One of those hand held air horns works really well if you can get within a few feet. They really do hurt a dog's ears. Last time I did it, the dog ran whimpering. The next time I walked up to the fence, the dog ran whimpering. No horn.

On a side note, I see these being used at F1 races. I'm sure everyone wears ear plugs, but if some joker sounded one of those next to my head, I'd deck him.

Milt, the dogs are fine, honestly the biggest problem with any neighborhood is people. People are nothing but trouble. The ones with air horns more so.

Yeah, but it works. Just over the majority of local residents in my neighborhood do not have dogs. Of those that do, most don't bark much. It's the one in 12 houses that has barking coming at all times of the day and night. If that's in any way annoying to me, I do what I can to stop it.

The laws in our city make illegal any animal noises that disturb anyone. However, it would take an act of congress to enforce the law. BTDT, so I do what I have to do on my own. I'm sure that majority that don't have barking dogs appreciate it.

I've had a couple dogs, 3 in a lifetime to be exact. They were all barkers and I was embarrassed. They didn't always bark, but any time they did, I knew they were bothering someone somewhere. The last one was a rescue Lhasa Apso. They are little barking machines by nature. What freakin' mistake that was.

Well, it was the wife's mistake. Even she will never get another dog and she was the reason for 2 of the 3 I've had. My dad was the other and he brought home a beagle.

All I'm saying is that none of the neighborhood dogs are hitting me up to help pay for the fence they put up beside my yard, they never complain about how long my grass is, or where I store my spare parts for my little projects. The dogs never complain about the paint on my house, or my little parties, or where my friends park or what my kids wear (or don't wear), it is always people that are hasseling me. They just won't leave me alone, all I'm trying to do is bring some southern folksy charm to the neighborhood, you'd think they would rather live with a HOA or something.

We had a little neighborhood drama recently. My wife & I stayed completely out of it. The people that live kitty-corner front left of us bought their home about a year ago in an estate sale. It was in really rough shape, the yard was completely overgrown & the basement was full of crap.

Well, the neighbors to their left started to really put the screws to them to do something about the yard. I could see them making progress, but I believe it wasn't good enough for the neighbor's overbearing wife. I'm not 100% sure they did it in spite or if they are really just goofy, but I think it's a combo of both.

They let their 6 year old boy pick the colors out for the exterior of their home.

Everyone flipped out, lead by the overbearing wife. She was crying how her home had just lost $15K in value, ect.

I don't really give a crap, I can barely see it & when I do it gives me a chuckle. I'm going to be here for at least another 20 years unless something tragic happens. I kind of feel sorry for the 6 year old boy. He plays with my son a lot & is very nice. The color could be tough on him in 5 years, kids can be mean.

There is a reason your neighbors have not paid. God, fate, or whatever, is looking out for you.

Why do you want your neighbors to have partial control and influence over your fence? The fence you put up because of them?

Do not let them pay for the fence. Refuse their money. Otherwise, you'll hate that fence for years to come.

vash, there is something to be said for this. Hopefully the fence is entirely on your property too.

Those bark-shock collars seem to work.
