Another reason to move to Montana...

Yes, the thought has crossed my mind. Repeatedly.

The only reason CA is 14th worst is because speed cameras are illegal here. I bet if we had them, CA would be pretty much at the bottom. Same if they factored in "time wasted sitting in traffic" and "fuel prices" in their evaluation.

Honestly, I was VERY surprised that MI was so far down the list at #15 especially being the home of the BIG 3. Well, soon to be the home of the big 3..

I am not surprised that Ohio is number 2..... I used to get a lot of speeding tickets when I was younger. Driving down I-75 into Ohio, nearly all drivers whether Mi or Oh plates, instinctively slow down when crossing the border into Ohio.

Ohio is bad, Indiana is almost as bad, Illinois maybe slightly better. When I was traveling for a living. I had Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois & Kentucky one year 85,000 Miles. They don't play around in Ohio they are ruthless and expensive.

We did not have a speed limit here in MT from 1995 to 2000. Stupid was still illegal, however dry sunny day in a suitable car with good tires 95-MPH was cool.

Last weekend going to the track for a DE event 168 miles. I left the house at 5:00 AM watched very closely for deer until 6:15 AM very easy on mountain roads with critters, passed a Moose & Bobcat. H4 Porsche lights still suck! I did not have an opposing car until 7:15 AM it was a friend I knew going to the track. After that I passed 3 more cars going in the same direction. We have some of the best roads in the country for p-car driving.

Last Ticket here November 08 93 MPH in a 75 MPH zone in the 930, the Cop MT Trooper nice guy, wrote it for 88MPH $20.00 fine no points. The guy walks up to the car and says, "that thing wasn't even breathing hard was it?" Yea it gets cold here in the winter. But the summer is heaven.

Which way are they ranking states on #17: "Is cell phone use banned?"

IMO, banning cell phone use while driving is a good thing.

I'm wondering if they're ranking states as worse if they ban usage.

I think the only reason NJ is on top of that list is because folks who live outside of NJ don't understand how to drive whist travelling in my glorious state.

Especially the folks from New York.

If you know what to expect in NJ, then you have a better chance of surviving the traffic here. Plain and simple.

I think it probably stems from the fact that New Jerseans simply hate tourists and out of staters, generally speaking, of course!

I have done about 100 too many round trips on the Jersey Turnpike and am amazed how well it flows, the average speed and lack of speed traps.

Ohio is much worse! There must be a speed trap every few miles - oh how they were gunning for the 911. I did not even go 5 over, most of the way across that state.

The good thing about New York is no reciprocity with any other US States for points (Quebec only!) just pay the ticket and no problem..
