What are these worth (2 Porsches)

The first is a 1992 Carrera 4 with 65,000 miles...said clutch is bad? What is a good price to pay for this car. What does a cluthch cost to repair..and is this a good car to own?

Second is a 87 944 Turbo with 12,000 miles...again what is it worth and is it a good car to own?

No experience with either Tabby...but I suspect a 944 Turbo would be faster? Neither vary desireable in my eyes. tho the '92 probably the higher price...a C-4? Didn't the early 4X4 models have drivetrain issues?

And a 944? Nope...don't like the "huffer" motor problems. Since it's low value, fixes can run more than the car is worth.

Come to think of it, that could be true with either car...

If it's $pending on P cars uou wish to do, restore your old beater S.

I have a '90 964-4 that I really like. But l live in a wintery place. As a summer car, I think I'd rather not have the AWD option.

The car can be handful when electrical issues crop up.

I would say if it needs a clutch it is worth about $18k. Maybe up to $22 if the car is perfect otherwise.

Different ideas of monetary worth, I guess...to my thinking "well into the teens" is a cheap P-car.
One that can easily take more $ to repair than it's worth...$10,000 doesn't do a decent engine rebuild these days...

I have an '87 944 turbo that I bought with issues for about 5k about 6 years ago. It is a nice driving car now, but they simply are not worth a whole lot of money even though they are faster than non turbo 911's of the same era. They are well built, but are not cheap to have work done to them. I rarely sell anything, so who knows, maybe 10 years from now mine will be worth something. Twenty years ago, I would have never guessed that 914's would ever be worth anything again. I am guessing that you would hard pressed to get much over 10k for that low mileage one even if it is mint. Sucks, but that is reality.

Like I said, save your pennies, save your dimes...then restore your old 911S.
(edit) You'd then have a better recreational driver and a more valueable car than either of these.

I would think a 944 Turbo with 12k original miles would be quite desirable...it's really not?

Interesting, other than the OT forum, we actually have some model specific forums...

92 is a desirable year for the 964. Clutch is a $400 DIY, $900 shop change. Most all of the teething issues are resolved, you get the aero mirrors, etc. Nice. I'd take for anything south of $17K. Get a PPI, leakdown and go for it.

The early C4s were not the greatest, IMO, but I don't like any of the non-turbo AWD 911s. The system was improved over the life of it though and that's the earliest incarnation. (964/993/996/997). It has a great 3.6 motor and good trans. (Assuming it's a manual). I've seen decent 964 coupes w/ some miles for ~$12k before.

That's super conservative. If you can find a clutch kit for that car for $400 (Pelican charges $550 for it) and don't do anything else at all while you're in there, then you might not be that far off. Last time I DIY'ed a 911 clutch (when prices were far lower), I had quite a list of while-you're-in-there stuff and I am as cheap a shopper as they come. Don't forget the DMF, the ring gear, a valve adj., oil change, maybe CV boot kits/repack, clutch slave, rear main seal, etc. Easily $1000 DIY job if you only want to take that engine out one time.

15 to 20k on the 951 to somebody who really wants one with super low miles
IF the low miles are TRUE and everything else is perfect
944/951 odo's break real eazy
just push the reset while moving and it is DEAD

now that willnot sell quick but someone will bite
there are not a lot of true low mile cars like that out there

BTW if original cam drive belt is in there REPLACE BEFORE STARTING

I thought that was only on tripmeters, not odometers.

Upon a closer look, that C4 has stock suspension at US ride height. 65k miles and 17 yrs. - needs new shocks. Headlights are 99% totally clouded up H5's.
