Sad tale of potential unrealized
 

I got to thinking with the major league draft coming up, and Scott Boras floating an absurd number out there ($50mm) for San Diego State's Stephen Strasburg.

Will Scott Boras ruin the draft?

There was another phenom years ago. A can't-miss pitcher who could run it up there 95 mph - and he was a lefty!. The kid's name was Brien Taylor and he had all the tools. The Yankees drafted him and gave him a $1.5mm sigining bonus. The largest ever at the time. He was tearing it up in double A when he got into a fight outside his mom's trailer home and tore up his shoulder. Career over! Pretty sad.

Just goes to show how fragile talent is. You have to be smart and lucky to realize all that potential. I mean this guy was going to be the next Dwight Gooden, and he basically blew it by not staying away from trouble.

That would make a cool movie.
